Gents!

I tried to advance my timing last night by 2 degree and the engine starts to knock. I added from 1.000 to 1.050 of fuel and the knock is gone.

Will there be a time that even by increasing the fuel will not help the knock problem? Is that considered the optiumu point?

dont change your a/f mixture with out a wideband 02 or unless on a dyno.

1.05 is a large jump in a/f mixture if your adding that to the base map, your probably running so rich now its not even funny.

i wouldn't mess with the injector pulse width map if i were you.

you tune a specific a/f mixture on the dyno or with a wide band say 13.0

then start adding timing untill the knock is at a tolerable level of your choice.

we try to keep knock under 40 for n/a and under 30 for f/i cars.

What octane gas are you using?

I agree with Illusive. Don't advance the ignition until you set AF. The order and approach I took on my car was:

1) Tune AF
2) Tune VVT
3) Tune Ignition

is there a way to detect knock with the emange? or you can only see this with the pfc?

there might be a way, at least easier way. I did a search and found the GReddy Knock Sensor Adapter for the e-manage. it's on this page:

http://www.thor-racing.co.uk/Greddy-106.asp

it's so cheap it makes you think they're selling a $20 wire lol.
so perhaps the e-manage can log it fine but it just needs to be wired right.

That i have read thats an "adapter" but not actually for the e-manage. what it does is trick the ecu in seeing less knock on car that have a very sensitive knock sensor so that the ecu does not retard the timing.

I talked to some one that has it and he confirmed what you said.
It reduces the knock count that the ECU see's, it doesn't allow to log knock
