right now I have a 3" cat back exhaust system w/carsound high flow cat + apexi n1 muffler. Honestly I am getting tired of it being too loud. what I wanted to know was,if I added a resonator after the cat (since I dont even have one to begin with), will it affect my performance in a huge way since my car is turbo'd ? will it be noticable or only take away like 1-2 hp ? I also have backfire/kickbacks coming from my exhaust and wanted to know if a resonator would stop them.

backfires is caused by running too rich. Unexploded fuel accumilate and explode inside the exhaust. You should tune it leaner if you want to get rid of the backfiring.

Resonator will silence the noise, but will also take away performance.
You might want to try to get a Apexi N1 turbo silencer. It's mounted on the muffler and takes away some noise.

Nope - you need proper tuning to fix that. Backfires are not caused by exhaust, but it does make the fireballs more impressive if its straight through.

Wouldn't know since i've never heard one before.
I got an offer for my dual muffler exhaust system, so i'm thinking of going full 3" catless exhaust system as well. I just don't a too heavy sound, so will have to find a solution for that.

I am not sure of your full engine config.
A straight 3inch system is allmost allways loud, the N1 muffler is also a loud one.
I think if you do not have power figures over 300whp your shoud try a 70mm system, whit a cat, or try to get one muffler from Greddy, for some reason those do a better job then the rest of the mufflers.
