Are there any other lightweight 17x7.5 wheels besides the Kosei K-1 that are in the under $200 range? Anything that's 16lbs or under would be great.

You might try Rota Subzero's. Apparently they come in a 17x7 that is 16.5lbs and a 17x7.5 that is 16.9lbs. The 17x7 is listed at $139/ea on this site:
http://www.modacar.com/wheels/wheels.htm
Pretty sure they're available in 5x100...not sure of offset.

I think the Rota Subzero's offset is 48mm so I'd have to get spacers.

I think Volks are a "tad" more than my $200/rim limit. ;)
Anyone heard of the ASA IS6 rims? They're $179 a rim for 17x7.5 on tirerack. Can't find anything about these rims or anything about ASA for that matter.

here's a site with 45mm and 48mm offset for the 17x7.5...at least with the 45, it's a little easier to get back to 39mm:

Enkei RP02 might be another possibility...I've seen varying weights listed, some in the range you're looking for...might be worth a little investigating.

Fourgig...are you getting these for autocross? If so, why 17"?

Yes, I'll be autocrossing on the rims. My reasoning would be 50% aesthetics. They just look so much better than 15" rims. ;)
The other 50% is performance based. I want something in the 16lbs range so that I won't increase my unsprung weight. Moving from a 15" to a 17" wheel gives me a lower profile tire and thus much less sidewall flex. I know most of the autox crowd lean toward smaller wheels for better acceleration. But with the a non-flexing sidewall, I should get more responsive steering for all those slaloms and also much improved cornering traction. So, I think whatever the 15" wheels make up in the straight I can make up for in the corner.
I guess we'll see if this theory pans out in a few weeks when I find the right rim.

whats wrong with the kosei's?

Nothing's wrong with the Kosei's. I just think they are a tad plain looking. If I can find another rim in the same weight and price range, I'd rather get the better looking ones.
I found the specs for the Enkei RP02 and it looks like they don't have 17x7.5's. The 17x7 are 18.52lbs and the 17x8 are 19.84lbs. That's off Enkei's site.

try the enkei RP01's, they are lighter i think. I like the plain look of the koseis. Nice and subtle. That my opinion though, good luck.

We'll Hp Motorsports Wheels have the C-2 copy named Hurracane and the 17"x 7 weights 17 pounds only. I have these wheels on my car. RH's own C-2 evolution,CP-10 weight a pound per inch. So you have other better options.

Whatever you do don't put spacer on your car. That will hurt the car. You can go with 35mm to 42mm offset. A good rim that would look good would be the SSR Competition. Those rims are 13.5 pounds. But it 379 a rim. I would stick with Kosei K1. You know they have the Athracite color. That just like the gunmetal color. But if you hurry, call tirerack they might still have them.
Good Luck,
Dan

There's nothing wrong with using a spacer to get back down to oem offset. Just keep in mind:
1. You may have to install longer studs so that the lugs have enough to grab onto
2. You want a quality spacer specifically designed for your hub size and bolt pattern.

What go through all that spacer stuff and just get the rim that made for you car. You want to spend 200 a rim. Why put out more money out so you can have the rim fit your car. If that the case, I would rather put more money torward the rims and get the one I want. That just my .02 cent

I know a few people that road race and circle track that use spacers...so I'm not too worried about having to use them.
Seems like 17x7.5 is not a very popular size. The only wheels I can find that are 17x7.5, around 16lbs and still in the $200 range are Kosei K1s and Rota Subzeros. There's got to be more out there.

I honestly think you cant go wrong with the koseis. They are affordable and light, and that may be a reason why there aren't more lightweight ones. They just cant compete with the price of the koseis.

why not 17x7? you're limited to a 225 tire in STS, right? Wouldn't a 225 perform well enough on a 7" wheel? Plenty of DS/GS people running 225's on the 6.5" oem wheel (granted, that's a race tire, but still...)

the only [roblem he will run ino by trying a 225 on a 17, is that the profile is going to be lower. The lower the profile, the wider the wheel he is gonna need. I just think that all around he cant get better than the kosei's for the price.

A 7" wheel is wider than a 6.5". I think a 225 would work ok.
Fourgig, what size tire do you plan to run?

You can't go wrong with the Kosei K-1. It has a 35mm offset so remember, wider is better. Rota's were my other chose but the offset was not my cup of tea. Look at my pics. THey are not dull, plain or boring. It's performance first. Do you want people to say "LOOK's FAST" The new wheels get mad attention and props. No one has them in the city. The lighter weight and smaller overall diameter with the smaller tire improves on acceleration and braking. You can't go wrong for the money. Trust me I drove the wife crazy for a month looking at every wheel combination out there.
