belt tensioner question

when the belt tensioner goes out can u hear it squeek above idol .. .does it get louder and as u rev or does it just squeek at idol or is it even a squeek.... lemme know

very loud squeak at idle when it has been raining out. i have yet to get mine fixed. very annoying. it goes away when you are driving, but when you stop at a light it comes back.

you will definitely know if your belt is loose (for whatever reason). The screech is somewhat loud inside the cabin, but outside it is just obnoxious. I am takin' mine into the dealership Monday morning, hopefully they will replace my tensioner with the new model :D

My celi is at the dealership right now getting that problem fixed. My dealership was nice. THey are "melody Toyota of Milbrae California." I brought it in for the 20k maintenance, and I complained about a slight squeeky noise when it was humid. While they were maintaining my car, they mentioned the tensioner problems of celicas, and said they would replace the belt, and tensioner assembly under warranty just like that. I'll be happy when I get my car back tomorrow.
