i think that anyone should have to have a certain number of posts AND be a part of nc.org for a given amount of time before they should be allowed to post anything for sale in the for sale forums. look at the post by bmwk1d to see a perfect example of an internet scammer. anyone with me on this? larryd, what's the likelyhood that this could happen? there are lots of rules to protect nc.org members (which is great IMHO), but nothing about this (except for the location tag)...

I also think actual pictures of the Items for sale should be manditory.

The only problem is it is bound to promote spamming in one way or another.

id guess to just toss out the whole post , must be member for atleast 30-90 days, by then they should have more then 100 posts anyways , and if they dont then its a good likely hood that they may be a scammer.

im so in love with the idea.. I want to marry it.. 1 month or 2 before posting for sale. I dont know about to look to buy though, ive sold stuff to people that have barely been on the board.

IF something does happen. It should be just to sell not to view.

How about location tags that match registration data? Nobody can sell anything unless the mail to address matches the profile address, which would have to match the white pages address.

I like the idea of how long they've been registered. I'm not in favor of the post count though because some people just don't have anything to say.

I also wish we could make pics mandatory, but it would be a problem with camera access, and posting them, for some people.

i think we should use the system where they have to be a member for a set amount of time. post counting sounds good too, but its true some people just dont post that often. in any case, whatever larryd comes up with to fix this will certainly be better than our current system.

as someone who got scammed by a "member" on this board who did not have many posts, this is the logical thing to do.
also, in my particular case, the mother fuuucker "sold" the item to multiple people, and no one knew the better until too late.....
SO BUYER SHOULD MANDATE THAT SELLER POST HIS/HER NAME AS THE TENTATIVE BUYER in the post.
also, fyi, paypal does not insure transactions paid direct from your bank account, but does so from your credit card or paybal balance. no, it makes no god forsaken sense

there are some honest ppl that rarely post but always read the stuff on here....so the best way to protect is to send money thats safe and foolproof
Please don't close out viewing the 'for sale' section to members with low post numbers.
As someone who is new to both the Celica and to performance modifications, I don't have advice to give ppl asking questions.
And as someone who understands how to use the "search" feature on a forum, I don't repost newb questions answered last year. Most all of the questions I have had so far were answered with a simple search and some reading.
And I type long-winded replies....
I'd have to post 90 more times (if the limit was 100 to view) before I could buy something from a seller here. As a newb, I like the idea of buying a part like TPR's intake, since not only is a good part, but the guy who made it and sold it to me can help should I have trouble or do something stupid.

true, but it's the dishonest ones we want to guard against. sometimes the bad apples riun things for everyone else. That's just the way it goes.

I don't think there's anything wrong with buying even with only 1 post. It's up to the seller at that point to make sure he has the cash before he sends the product.

like some people (aka my friend) doesnt post he just uses PM's
hes been on ecelica for over 6 months and has only like 12 posts, and his car is modded way out...
pictures sounds like a good idea, but not everyone has digital cameras, then people will get po'ed, plus, it will be like ebay, people just selling pictures of stufff (haha thats stupid)

The problem with what you are saying is just what I am up against. My first post was some for sale items,This forum does not have an attachment link for pictures of what I am selling and I would prefer local pickup for anyone buying as to see that I and the parts I am selling are for real.I no longer have my gts and I do have a bunch of Big parts that I no longer need, and my first sale to someone on here was a shortblock, and he lives 2/3's way accross the contry and he is also a new member,go figure.I just hope he posts that he had a good experience buying from me.I am also leary of buying from anyone who is a first time post person, but at least if they take paypal it is somewhat of a good sign, not the old money order or cash only sale person.Just trying to let you see things from another persons perspective.Thanks.
