I hooked up this switch, P.N. 8950, to some LED lights that in put in the gage console. The problem I'm having is when I hook it up to the TACH output on the ECU, either the TACH nor the switch works. I disconnected it and the tach works again. I'm thinking that it's drawing too much power from the ECU, and the ECU is shutting it because it thinks it sees a short. I'm hoping that there may be something else I didn't do right, but I've checked and rechecked the wiring diagram that came with the instructions, and I don't see anything I might have done wrong. I'm wondering if there's another location I could try attaching the TACH pickup wire too.

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

This info is coming late...but, if you are still looking for help...you could try to tag the tach signal from one of your coils instead.

Otherwise, MSD does offer a tach-adapter for the Celica that will make the system work 100%. I forget the part number, but if you still need help and reply to the post...I will look it up.

I sent it in to MSD and had them modify it from the 12v pickup to a 5v pickup. I put it back on and the tach works find now with it installed, but the light I have attached to it still doesn't seem to want to turn on. I haven't had a chance yet to double check everything, but hopefully it's a trivial problem that will be easily solved at this point. If it's not I'm going to call MSD back and complain.

Ok, I got it installed again, but it still doesn't work. My Tach doesn't die on my any more just from haveing it installed, expcet that today while I was driving around nice and easy like, my Tach starts jumping all over the place. I finally taped the RPM switch with my foot, and it stoped jumping around, so I think it's still not right, or they messed it up somehow. I think I should call them back and complain.

I have been waiting for my msd window switch for the last 2 months. Damn site (gofastpart.com) told me it would take 3-4 days 2 months ago...what a joke.

I "should" be getting it this week...

I am going to try to hook up the tach signal to one of the injectors...if that fails, I will further try to isolate the tach signal via diodes.

I figure there has to be a way for this to work without having to order the adapter which runs around $50-$60.

Let me know if you figure anything else out...I will keep trying on my end aswell.

Yeah... I need to call them back and complain, but definatlly keep me informed and I'll do the same.
