also i noticed the nitto's only come in 205 and 225(no 215).
which one would be better for straight line performance

I think the Yoks are undoubtedly the better tire, but I've heard they wear REALLY fast. The NT555's are pretty decent, I've had a set before and really liked them. Much better than the NT450 if you've had any experience with them (and don't like them as most ppl do). The NT555's should at the very least last you quite awhile, and for most people it should be more than enough on the street. :)
I'm using 205's and I think they look perfectly fine, but then again I have only 7" wide rims. I dunno if there's too much of a measureable difference in straight line performance between a 215 and 205, but I would think that a narrower tire should provide a better drag coefficient, and also less rotational mass. That all prolly adds up to zilcho on the 1/4 tho.

they look kinda similar.

i ran on the a520's for bout 2 years...real Good traction..especially on wet roads (something i was Forreal lookin for after i hydroplaned, crossed 3 lanes of traffic, and slammed into a concrete median)...
my votes for the a520's...
thanx

thats two.
i dont really want a tire thats good in wet conditions.
i live in phoenix and it doesn't rain here at all.
is it good in dry? better traction then the kuhmo 712's?
donno about the yoko's or nitto's but I'll be getting
a set of these babies as soon as I get my rims :)

i had 2 sets of A520s on my Lude (same size as Celica) and they were fantastic! lasted 35,000 miles on a lowered suspension. If your suspension is stock and you drive hard they will not last as long.
About tire wear, assuming proper alignment, rotations, and pressures....Stock suspension plus hard driving equals excess tire wear!

dunno bout dry weather...
in the mag articles, the main selling point was the "7"s in the tread that enabled to channel water the best...
as for "dry" traction, my guess is that its as good as any other z-rated tire..if not better

so which one would have better grip?
whats the wear number on each.
that can usually tell you.
the stck yoko's where something like 150.
the kuhmo's i have are 300 or so.
so what are these?

if I remember the A520 has a wear rating of less than 200, like the stocks, tho I don't remember offhand the exact #. NT555s rate at 300.

treadwear is subjective to the tire company though. There is no real way to tell between companies, but it is usually a good way to compare within companies. I am goin with the NT555 cause it has 225/40 17
