today i went to the dealer to checkup my car first 1000km.
and i told them the problem, they said that i have to change a new Transmission. WTF ?? just got my car 2 weeks ago, my car only got 1000km on it , and is ****ed already ??
anyone experienced this problem ?
is it really causing by the transmission or what u guys talking abt is the belt tensioner problem ?

turn off your radio and see if it still makes the noise... if it stops then the noise is called alternator whine... it happens because of the back EMF generated from by the alternator. Otherwise its a mechanical whine and can be cause by either a mechanical part or wind noise. If its mechanical then it would have to be a high spinning part in order to create a whine like that... something like the actual engine or crank. Other than that it could be caused by wind entering the grill or any front fascia part.
Hi trdteam,
I have the same problem. It is between 80-95 km/h that I hear the pitch. Any speed above or below that the noise is gone.
btw I have an auto GT too!
I spoke with the dealer when I went in for my 1000 km checkup, and they told me it's just wheel noise. I don't really buy it. Why would it just occur between 80-95 km/h? Resonance effect? And the noise sounds metallic too...
Anyways, what happened with yours? Did they give you a new tranny?
I'm have close to 20,000 km on my car now and I still hear this high pitch everytime I lift my foot & let the car cruise between 80-95.
If its normal, then that's fine. But if it isn't, then I want it fixed before something else is damaged.
Thanks.

JayZ,
they told me cuz of the tranny (i dont really buy it), i keep asking why the tranny cuz that high pitched sound when i foot up the gas around 80km+ , they said they are NOT 100% sure its from the tranny, but they found out my tranny got problem needs to replace it (kind of bull****ting), i was like WTF ? i just bought the car like 2 weeks ago, i didnt fix it at that time cuz my car still in the break-in period, so i wanna to run few more k's km on it to see what happen, but i still got that problem.
it is not normal which they told me, the sound shouldnt be happen.
2morrow i m bringing in my car to do the first oil change (4k now) , and let them inspect again, if they said the tranny still got problem, i will replace it .
i will keep u posted
Hi trdteam,
Thanks... Keep me posted....

It almost has to be the tranny - its definitely driveline though. If it was engine related it would do it at the same engine speed in every gear. If it doesnt then it has to be tranny, wheel, or wind. (very specific speed ranges usually do end up relating to wheel issues) It is possible that the wheels and tires could "sing" but it would tend to change with tire inflation and road conditions. Regardless of wheel size, make sure your tires aren't over inflated. But then again it could just be a resonant frequency in the tranny. If they all do it then don't sweat it....

I have a 2000 Auto GT and heard what you're describing every once and a while during the whole first year. It got very loud one week so I took it in and of course no explanation could be given. One little extra thing though.... I was using the highest octane gas every once and a while, and the week it got really loud i had a full tank of it. I switchd back to the Plus octane (89 I think) and haven't heard it since. :-D
