Hey guys/girl. :)
My second job (Home Depot in Buford) is having a
2002 Cruise Nigh Kick-Off on Saturtay, April 13th from
5:00-9:00 p.m.
It's going to have music, prizes, and free refreshments.
Awards for Best of Cruise are even going to be given out
so I thought this would be a fun idea for us to all get together and hang out. It's sponsored by the GA Bandits Classic Car Club but is open to ALL vehicles.
What do ya think? Anyone feel like it?
Later, Jamie

Sounds good to me. I live about 20 minutes from there so it beats driving all the way to Atlanta. Maybe we could all catch a movie or something at the Mall of Georgia after that.

Ahh, very good idea Duncan. I'd be up for that too.

ooh...sounds good to me. i think the auto-x shootout (which looks really fun, theres supposed to be 2 cars at once but thats all i know now. here's a link to the track map though: http://www.apexbenefits.biz/Shootout.htm) is that same day but maybe we can get up early for once and run in the morning and still make it to it.

No, Stockbridge is a bit south of the airport maybe, its an hour from my place, which makes it about 1 and a half from the Mall of Georgia, so its not too bad. Georgia Southern is in Statesboro :o) Alcoholic capital of Georgia :o)

no, the race is at turner field again. the stockbridge address is just where apex insurance is, for some reason that guy owns that company but also does a lot of the auto-x map stuff and puts it on his page which has their address at the bottom. i kinda wish it was in stockbridge though, i live about 10 minutes from there.

Oh...ok. I should be in then. That course looks....interesting. Maybe we could meet up at the Varsity or something again. I always seem to get lost in parts of Atlanta I'm not familiar with.

yea, interesting describes it well. it looks as if 1 car goes to the left and the other to the right, which could be kinda neat. when i first heard about 2 cars at once i thought it would be like pro solo or something (where 2 cars go on courses that are mirror images of each other...i think...) but this seems a bit different. i'm looking foward to it though, as long as i have tires by then.

Don't worry, I think everyone does once they hop off the interstate that is.

Nevermind.......didn't see your post yet Cody. Turner field will be cool.

If you guys did the morning auto-x, would that give you time to get home, rest, clean your cars up, and make it to Buford? It sounds like everyones interested. :)

Yeah, that would be workable. I just hope I can get to sleep early and get up in time to get to turner field by 7:00. I'd have to get my car ready the night before and leave my house no later than 6:00 so it will be tough.

I hope to have my springs, front lip, and my hoodscoop on by then. ;) I know it's not an import show or anything but I still think our cars will draw lots of attention. It'll be fun

Are we sure about the shoot out being that day last I checked the SCCA website the has nothing for the 13th but Points #3 for the 14th or is this something they advertised last weekend, any way how do you get to the home depot

For you Mark (if your coming from your house) Take 400 North to exit 14 (Cumming). Turn left towards Buford. After about 10-15 mins, you'll be in Buford. Home Depot is on the right about 1/2 mile past McDonalds. Can't miss it. We could probably follow each other if you wan't. Jamie

That's cool that seems easy, Yeah maybe I could follow you, as long as you promise to stay out of your 2nd cam

man, i am so up for some autoxing in the morning. it'll be way better to get it over and done with and not have as big of a crowd. the hard part is staying awake while racing. oh, and i live in stockbridge, it's not very exciting. also, the car show sounds real cool, count me in, even though my wheels won't be on by then because they're still on backorder. :( hopefully i can get in touch with ivan and at least reserve them.

It would be cool if we all made a little import section of the show, we could just take our own corner kinda like we did when we went to the show at US Play

Hey Mark, that's cool I'll take it easy on ya :)
Michael, don't sweat it. I'm still on stock rims too.
I was going to buy new wheels last year but decided
to buy a new motor for my camaro first. :(
Maybe when this set of tires wear out, I'll get new
wheels too. :)

the thing on the 13th isnt part of the points season. the points event #3 is on sunday but i doubt i'll do 2 in one weekend as i'll most likely be broke and dont wanna kill whatever tires im on too bad. and i'm not really going for points since im still in novice anyways. but everything for the show still sounds good to me.

Have you guys considered like an IRC channel or like... some chat channel? I mean the board is going nuts. Hehe. Also, have any of you (I know Cody and Barry) that have Injen CAI had any problems with the CEL light from it? I'm about to order one and want to be sure it isn't having issues with everyone.

Ok I see, I was looking at the map for the thing on the 13th and it's hella confussing Not sure if I want to run it. I'm not Keen on the idea of 2 cars on the same track at once if we ever have to pass each other, but I will probably come and watch and I will definitly be at the show.

That's exactly what I was thinking.
I'm sure that other imports will show up. Cool cars attract cool cars right?

haha...yea, we do take up lots of room on this board. usually we're not on at the same time though so thats why a chat room would be a little harder to do. and i was wondering about passing the other person on track too, hopefully it wont be at a dangerous spot or anything. i would like to find out a little more first but i still think i wanna try it.

jamie, wow, you've been on stock wheels and tires this long? i'm about to combust over the fact i'm still on the factory rims. i guess it's a little better for you celica peeps, your stock tires aren't near as bad as the rsx's. good god, they suck so much ass. i can't even launch hard or accelerate too much on a turn without some spinning. don't even think about trying to have fun in the rain, like this whole weekend. oh well, i'm gonna try and get some faulken azenis' so i can start autoxing before the next event.

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking that,

BTW everyone I just downloaded a bunch Initial D songs off of this site http://subzero.mine.nu/celica/Initial%20D/
They are awesome check it out if you don't have DSL or cable let me know and I will burn you a copy

yeah Michael, tell me about it. I had the wheels and tires picked out and priced for install and my wife reminded me of how much longer it would take me to save the $$ to get the motor for my camaro so i backed down from the wheel thing for now. Good news is that my motor is done. I just need a tranny, brakes, carpet and seats and it's streetable. Here lately, I've been buying alot for my Celi though so I'm getting there. :)

Thanks for the link Mark. I was having a hard time getting them off of KazaA. I'm also in the factory wheels club. As soon as I put aside enough for either the Enkei RSF-2s or maybe the Taikos I'll be happy for a while.

What year is your Camaro? I know what your going through with that. I restored a 68 Mustang a couple years ago. I poured way too much money into it and it only had an inline six motor in it. By the end of that project I could have bought a much nicer car. I loved that thing though. I rebuilt just about everything on that car. It was a great experience.

YEAY!! My springs were shipped today. :) They're coming from Orlando so I should get them in a couple days. If so, I'll have them on this weekend! Sweet, I can't wait.
Hey Duncan, my Camaro is a 74'. Not the best body style out there but I have alot of experience building camaro's (owned 5). I have some (scary) pics of it if you click on the link below. It's in the "summer project" section. Actually since those pics, the front end is completely put together so it looks better. And yes, your right. It's MUCH cheaper to buy one already fixed up but I like the challenge of taking something that looks bad and making it sweet again. I'll take some new pics soon. It's really pretty much going to be stock but still fun. There's nothing like a nice 350.

Sounds like a cool project. I'm sure the 350 will be a lot of fun to play around with.

My cousin has a 78 Camero that he built when he was 16, he's 30 something now but whenever I go to NY I make him pull it out it is sweet he dropped a small block 350 Dyno'ed to 400 + at the rear wheels, it has edelbrock headers and don't forget a racing automatic that will beet any manuel out there, he also has the stock 4-spd manuel in his garage that he puts back in from time to time, he really knows what he is doing when it comes to cars so pulling it apart and putting it back together is like a 4 hour job. it's sweet I am going up there on the 24th so maybe I will take some pics, he is currently restoring 60's or 70's chevy truck he is making it a cruser I can't wait to see it last I saw it he had just gotten the frame painted to match the body which is a super white, it looked great even in parts.
