I was wondering which ECU system would be more useful on a track/daily driver 01 GT-S. Which one has more datalogging and will either be able to take inputs and log from vehicle data aquasition systems (suspension travel, etc.)? Is the EMS similar to a Motec where you can datalog pretty much anything that you can place a sensor on? Which one is more powerful in that it has a more detailed map to adjust? Does the EMS come with a decent base map, or is it empty?

ehhhh... 1 is out for quite awhile but the other one is not for sale yet...So until there is a final production with a easy to use software to go along with the Hydra EMS one would have to say PFC.

True, but how do they stack up in potential on paper? ie. which is theoretically more powerful. Although a hlaf assed program for tuning can make it compleatley not worth it.

BTW I thought the non DBW Hydra EMS was out. I guess I was mistaken.

On paper the one that is not out always look better, afterall you can promise all kinds of function without it coming true. HOWEVER I do see a possibility that it will be better than PowerFC, because if they can not make it better then they should not even try and manufacture it because nobody would buy it.
For now I would still take PowerFC over Hydra EMS, reason is even if Hydra EMS is superior in every way... It still can not be a true standalone it needs stock ECU to control AC and stuff, even if they do work that out... Do you really truely need that much control, with NA or light to mid boost I would say no.
The previously mentioned OBD-II compliant don't attract me anymore (I believe it is not OBD-II compliant anyways), afterall my turbo would not pass smog having a ECU that would don't really work :chuckles:

BTW I am not knocking Hydra EMS, if it can control better for people going NA this would be great.

I see, now is there anything people are wishing they had with the PFC, but it cannot do/support (sensors etc.)? Also can it log inputs from telemtrey sensors, or would i need an AEM EMS or Motec to do that?

Wish you can add MAP sensor to a PowerFC setup, but I hear someone tried it and it kinda worked... That is all I wish PFC can do. It does log stuff you can even hook a wideband O2 sensor to it and it will log your AF ratio so you can adjust and update while car is still running.

I wish the PFC was able to adjust fuel at the injector pulse width according to boost level instead of having to use an FMU which is only a linear adjustment. The Hydra EMS supposedly has electronic boost control built in and the fuel adjustment to go with it. PFC would need to use AVC-R or something else like that. Am I right? So if that is true, the Hydra EMS would be better for hardcore turbo guys who want precision tuning and performance.
