Going to the hospital to visit my dad. Turning a corner and the water left on the pavment had formed into a VERY thin layer of slippery black ice. Car slid up over the curb. Busted all of the fasteners on that said of the bumper and bent the sh!t out of the metal tow hook in the front of the car as well. Scraped the front lip up pretty damn bad too. I have these Good Year Aquatred 3 tires that are supposed to be great for winter driving and watery conditions...so much for that. I hate them. Dry traction sucks, wet traction sucks...useless tires.

Part of me is really pissed..but part of me doesn't care. The part of me that is really pissed is the part of me that knows i am stuck with this car for a while and wants it to stay in as good of condition as possible. The other part of me doesn't car what happens to the car becuase it wants to get rid of the Celica and get something better. But the sensible side keeps saying "The car is payed off, gets good gas mileage, and you have to save your money for a house."

Damn voice of reason. But i am more pissed than anything right now.

That is all. And i am spent.

I don't think any type of tires would have helped you stick a turn on ice.

But yeah, Goodyears are shat.

Your tires don't mean crap on ice.

I think if I still lived up north, I'd just make sure my car was taller than the curbs. My mom had a bonneville when I was younger. I remember one incident when we were turning right into a merge lane. The whole lane was black ice, so the car started sliding to the left; there was nothing we could do but ride it out. we hit the curb on the left side of the lane, bounced off and kept going. no damage except maybe scratching the plastic wheel covers.

The parking garage here at my office does that, only its not ice, its just stagnant water. You can feel your vehicle "floating" to the side if you try and turn on the puddles. Worst part is you cant see them, because the garage is poorly lit.
