I was reading the Automotive Lighting FAQ (http://faq.auto.light.tripod.com/hl-hid-ballasts.htm), and it said it's a good idea to use something to protect ballasts from road debris and weather. It suggested dipping the ballasts in some Plasti-Dip(minus the vent) or using plastic boxes to cover the tops of the ballasts like this:

Is this absolutely necessary? I figured since the ballasts in all kits were just bare, and meant to be mounted inside the engine bay where it would be exposed, that they would be fine, but I want to take whatever precautions are necessary to get the longest life out of my HID kit.
