Hey guys and gals...I have a 02 stock GTS that i really need to make look different from the rest of the celicas in my small town. So...I was wondering pros and cons to lowering a car or ground effects. Do ground effects really make it that much harder to drive? And does lowering really cause problems to suspension? These things I have heard...I want some real advise by people who drive cars with ground effects or whatever. Thanks!

either only lower your car, or get both lower and body kit. dont just get a body kit. it looks weird without a drop. im waiting for my springs to arrive on my doorstep.

I did have to get very creative when it comes to driveways, and I'm always worrying about those parking stall bumpstops when I park my car. It's a pain in the ass, but nothing you don't get used to. If you've lowered your car enough and also have a kit that sits pretty low, you may just have to learn to deal with the fact that there are some places you simply can't go with your car if you're not willing to risk damage to the kit pieces.
I used two different sets of lowering springs on my stock struts for a year, before swapping to a full coilover setup. I didn't have a single (noticeable) problem doing so in that amount of time, tho it's sure to reduce the life of your stock struts a bit. Will your car be falling apart tho? I seriously doubt it... I think you'll be perfectly fine.
Be willing to look for nice even driveways and parking lot entrances/exits... and to spend a little more time on speedbumps. If that even bothers you in the slightest, it might be time to reconsider.

I have the Kaminari kit and the Eibach Sportline kit IMO they look really well together... And yeah It does take some time getting use to but its all good... It feels great having lowering srpings/coilovers its way better than stock (I hated that bouncy feeling the car had ****h the stock springs)... Anyway go with what you like drops dont have to be that extream... You can go with the TRD or Eibach Pro kit (exactly same kit except for the names)... Hope that helps...

What are the rules with ground effects? Is it illegal to have them on when driving? (so you can only have them when parked. I dont know how the law is enforced over here.

Uhm, my Kaminari body kti is pretty inconvient.... Can't put jacks on the side skirts so if I get a flat tire, I'm screwed... But you can jack it up from either the rear or the front but it's a hassel or I'm just lazy :wiggle:

In Hawaii, ground effects are illegal only if they're lower than the bottom of your rim.
