Have any of you noticed the black plastic/rubber trim around the back small windows coming off? Mine are starting to come off, especially towards the part closest to the back of the car. What holds this on anyway? Help.

nope havent noticed....my advise: take it to the dealer ASAP before they blame it on your intake....hehe, j/k....but seriously, take it in cuz that really should not even move out of place

so jotan, i see i'm not the only one who gets the feeling that those repair techs at toyota don't really do much repairiing? i know i should go to another dealership, but there aren't really very many of them out here in milwaukee. what did you do to fix the trim on your celica?

You should really take it to another dealership. There are just some bad dealerships out there that do not want to help you out at all. But I am sure if you look around, you'll find one that will help you out.

Mine is like that in the exact same spot because the window back there had to be replaced. I was just gonna have my body shop fix it next time I'm in there.

my GT did that, i got one of the very early ones made and my dealership said it was a known problem. they ordered new weather stripping but the tree fell on my car before they installed it. never had any probs on my GT-S

The only thing that holds thoes little back windows on is glue. It sounds like they need to pop it out and glue it down again.

I have no idea how or why, but I now have a small chunk missing from this trim on my car. It is the hard black trim around the back drivers side window.

Does anyone know how to fix this? The dealer wants big $$$.

Crap, you are right. This thread is old as hell. Well just for the hell of it I must mention that my cars are doing this as well, but only oin the driver's side. I wonder what the hell is up with that or what people did to fix it. I kind of peeked under the molding the other day and it looked to me like it is just double sided 3M tape holding these things on there.

I am just outta warranty since August 04. Anyway, if it is just 3m tape it shouldn't be a big deal. But then I was wondering why the dealer would want to call in a glass specialist and charge $100.00 just for the install.

Anyone have these off before to know for sure if it is just tape?

Well I lifted my molding up and that is what it looked like to me but I have never had it all the way off so I could not tell you for certain.

Well I am going to try it but one of the things I have learned about Toyota is that everytime they are supposed to fix something then they wind up screwing something up even worse. Maybe it is just me but I do not like them to touch my car much. On top of that nobody around me seems to want to fix a damn thing under warranty. The most I have gotten out of my warranty was a damn $8 bulb, but no sunroof fix, no hatch shock replacement, no side mirror molding replacement, no strut replacement (yes my stock struts went out in less than 15,000 miles), and a countless number of other things. However, they did give me a free bulb so I guess that is supposed to ease my pain.
