View Full Version : Teins in the snow?

Over the summer I installed a set of Tein SS-Ps on my Celica. Now I am back at school in CO and getting ready for winter (w/ my Blizzaks on stock rims). I have the ride height set at the point that was suggested in the Tein manual. Is it worth raising the car to the minimum drop (and getting it realigned)? Or, should I just leave the ride height alone? When I drive in the snow, it's usually pretty well packed on the road surface.

What height is default? I was completely fine in the snow last year with my 1.4" drop and Hotchkis Comp sways. The tires are more important than the suspension (though I have heard it helps to unbolt your sways).

It's between 2"-2.5" lower (after the springs settle). BTW, the blizzaks are awesome. They have good grip and very progressive breakaway. I've never heard of unbolting your sways, I'll have to try it when I have some time to mess around.

Yeah, I guess the sway concept comes from offroading, where you need a really soft sway or no sway at all. Also depends on the kind of snow you'll be driving over, like flat or totally choppy.
Depending on the height of the snow you choose to drive in, I'd say it would be a good idea to raise the car up as far as possible.
