I'm picking up a carbon fiber hood tonight. I was wondering if there is a way to have the saftey of hoodpins without the look of them? Is there a product that bolts into the under skeleton of the hood? (or something like that)

That wouldn't work very well. The pins need to go through the entire hood. The skeleton can separate from the hood, and then it would be like you never had hood pins in the first place. Besides the fact that they would be pretty hard to unlock from under the hood. ;) You could always get regular hood pins and have them anodized or zinc plated black to blend in with the hood better.

Sparco stainless steel spring hooks can be used for a variety of applications. The most popular being hoods and rear hatches and rear hatch glass. This easy to install kit includes two stainless steel spring hooks. The quick release mechanism makes these perfect for racing, where quick pit stops are crucial.

I was hoping they would connect underneath the hood :(
I picked up my new hood last night. I have never actually seen a CF hood for a celica in person. It looks great. Oh well - Hood pins it is.

Your request seems somewhat illogical-think about it one more time.
I have cable hood pins on mine- but I like the fnf look.
Lastly, if you have more than $100 to spend, check out www.hoodpins.com , you wont be embarassed to use those.

I don't think it's illogical at all. The hood has an under-skeleton. Unlike the stock hood the underskeleton is made of the same epoxy resen as the top part of the hood and it is all one peice. The bottom part of the plastic is about 1/8" thick. I don't think that if the hood flew up it would be possible to simply pull off the underskelleton.
How is it i'llogical to ask if there is a product that connects the bottom part of the hood to a solid radiator mount? The system could be designed on a spring system so that you could still pop your hood, pull it up, then unlatch the hooks underneath. When CF hoods fly up it is usually because the latch doesn't hook right or that it simply pulls away from the hood. The system i had invisioned would simply by a back up saftey mechinism that would temperarly hold the hood the latch broke. It would look something like this. The other side of the spring could be hooked into the peice the radiator mounts too.

I think the most difficult part would be finding a clip to hold the bracket to the hood. I don't think a screw would have enough holding power against the wind force pulling on the hood. Maybe somethign like a wall ancor that you stick in a hole then screw something into it that expands the part that is allreay in the hole.
This may not exist but i don't think its illogical.

If the huge latch can be torn through the underskeleton, then a little hook attached to the thin underskeleton itself wouldn't pose much opposition. There's a reason tracks require normal hoodpins on cars with aftermarket hoods...

autolock use to sell a underhood locking kit, its supposed to keep ppl from stealing your hood, not sure the real name of it but it does exist. it has a long cord that runs inside your car and use's a key much like that of a bike lock. i've only ever seen one in person but good luck finding it

I've seen that on ebay. Post some pics, I was curious to see how they would look installed.
