I bought the three gauge pod off of gaugepods.com, but the placement of the mounting holes don't make sense. Do I have to strip the A-pillar of all the stuff already on it (everything beneath the stock plastic cover)? And the screws supplied are about 1/2 inch long, and I don't see how they could possibly reach the sheet metal.
Anyone who's installed one of these before have any suggestions?

The instructions, which were on a 2 x 4 inch sticker on the inside of the gauge pod/pillar replacement, basically said test fit and mark holes, then drill, etc. Nothing useful.
There's a bunch on brace's and mounts for the plastic clips on the a-pillar. Even if I take those off the screws aren't long enough. I just wanted to hear what someone else did to mount it before I strip off the mounts and use longer screws.

I bought longer screws from the hardware store. Then I spent 4 hours fitting and fiberglassing the pillar to make it fit correctly...

This isn't the pods that attach to the stock plastic, I'm talking about the full a pillar replacement that gaugepods.com sells. Guess I should have been more clear about that, sorry.

I have one of those. I just removed the stock pillar and put the new one in place. Moved it until it sat flush and then screwed it in. I might've had to drill the holes, don't really remember but it wasn't that hard

I would probably just buy longer screws....
