wheel question

the wheels i want are 17x8 with a 35 offset. can a 215/40R17 fit that wheel? is that too wide or just right?

actually that might be jus right or if anything, not wide enuff. the wheel is 8 in wide and i dunno home much 215mm= in inches. to be safe id go with a wider tire. maybe 225?

225mm = 8.86in

However, you always have run a wheel that's notably thinner than the tire mounted on it, because the tire width measurement is taken at the widest point, where the sidewall has curved outward.

A 8in wide tire is pretty wide, I think most 215 width tires should fit, but I also think a 225 tire is a better choice for so wide a wheel.
