We start the season Sunday but tonight at NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway, Chicago (http://www.smsonline.com/) it's round 3 of March Madness or "The Autocrosser vs the Stock Car Driver"
I get to run 30 minutes (75 to 80 laps) at Richmond against an actual, real life Stock car driver (and he is good at the computer version too)

Past "March Madness" results
Monday night:
15 minutes (32 laps) at Atlanta - Led race flag to flag my competition was never more than .9 seconds back, I move to round 2.
Tuesday night:
20 minutes (47 laps) at Charlotte - Great start, got bumped to the back of the 8 car field and worked my way back to second. The driver I was racing against finished 4th about 9 seconds behind me, I move to round 3
Wednesday night:
30 minutes (75 to 80 laps) at Richmond.................. I expect to be killed

They have one and I plan on running it next week. It's not a "real" track but uses part of Daytona's road course and oval
I have over 6,000 miles (maybe 7k by now) on the Ovals

No No No please reread
I'll be racing at NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway, Chicago (actually Schaumburg Illinois) but will be racing a 4(?) axis simulator on a virtual version of Richmond International Raceway.

Well I got my clock cleaned tonight, ended up two laps down from the leader and 1 lap back from the guy I needed to beat. The race lasted 85 laps (83 for me) My best lap 21.894, the "stock car driver" 21.4
I had a blast anyway and it was free.... plus I won a 100 lap race for finishing 6th
They have a location in Universal City

Alas, that's still 350+ miles away! Maybe a weekend trip!
Better luck (and easier opponent) next time...

Fake racing?? Phooey.
Doh. Your post said "I get to run 30 minutes (75 to 80 laps) at Richmond against an actual, real life Stock car driver", so it sounded like real driving. But from the http://www.smsonline.com/experience/index.html page, I see what you mean. It actually looks kind of fun, for virtual racing.
BTW, I have driven my Celica around an oval track in Richmond. My club had an autocross at Southside Speedway, a ~1/3 mile banked oval. The course included two laps around the oval. We also had a just-for-fun lapping day there. On street tires, I was running in the 18-second range, so maybe a 60mph avg. Fear of the wall slowed be down a bit.
Now, I would like to see a real NASCAR driver attempt an autocross. That would be cool.
