For those of you that don't know what car I have, I have 2000 Celica gt-s w/ blitz s/c, blitz spark plugs, apex'i power fc, w/ trial header and trial version 2 exhaust. About a month after I installed trial version 2 exhaust, which is more restrictive than trial version 1 exhaust (which I had on when Trial came and tuned the car), I began to notice that my car has been running a bit weird off of boost, and at low rpms under boost. The car seems to hesitate and not want to climb the tachometer at low rpm's at moderate throttle (about 40% off boost), however when I ease up on the throttle a bit and push it at about 20%, the car will climb higher rpms with less hesitation and resistance. Under boost, when I accelerate at full throttle at low rpms such as 2500 rpm, the car will choke and move in a fashion like a car struggling to not stall driven by a learning stick driver, until I hit around 3500 rpm. The engine also idles funny sometimes, reaching as low as 500rpm. At high rpms under open throttle, the car runs just as hard as the day I got it. Any ideas at places that I should look at, before trying to retune my pfc? Spark? Fuel? My best guess would be a failing/dirty fuel injector. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
-Richard
**I forgot to mention that trial tuned my car to be running quite rich, and that even when I first got my car, the car never did run that great boost at low rpms such as 2000rpm.

Make sure you MAF is clean - and then check your A/F ratios.

^^^ thats a great start...get on the dyno and do a pull..print out your A/F readings and see how fat your running....If im not mistaken we did some improvement on Levi's car with some better tuning...but im not 100% sure on that....

today I took the car out and reved the car in neutral to see what would happen...and as I reved, there was a slight hesitation at 3k rpm, similar to what happens when the car is in gear....any ideas?

sounds like a tuning issue....next time you come down to LA area, I can look at your MAP...maybe it got corrupted??? highly doubtful...but who knows...i can compare it to another
MAP that i have similar to your setup...

cool thanks. In the meanwhile, I think i'm going to clean my maf, and check my airfuel ratio like you guys suggested. Thanks for the help

cleaned my maf today and same problems are present. Aside from the possibility of a tuning issue, is it possible that it has something to do with my fuel injectors/fuel pump or spark plugs?

i had a similar problem, but it was because that nut fell out to the air filter and the air filter fell off, it would hesitate really bad, but when i found a new nut and put the filter back on it ran finel.
too bad when we did all that tuning to my car that one day, come to find out the sniffer at the dyno place was jacked up soo who knows where my a/f really is

Last time i checked my spark plugs they looked pretty used, you may want to check those as well

I just talked to Scott, and Hero thinks it's most likely the spark plugs as well. What kind of spark plugs did you replace them with?
