I have the same problem as some of the earlier posts about the squealing belt tensioner. Just yesterday I went to start my car, and it didn't want to turn over. Could this be because of the belt tensioner? It never happened before, then a couple weeks after I started hearing the squealing, I couldn't start my car. It did eventualy start though.

Pa00GTS, I really don't think that the belt tensioner will cause the car to have difficulties starting. I think that it's caused by something else that is wrong with your car...

Crap, I've got to take it in to have it REALLY looked at then. For some reason also when I set my cruise, it does fine, and sometimes out of nowhere, it slows down by 5mph, then speeds back up to where I set it, messed up!!!

Actually, that cruise thing is a common problem on 2000 Celica's. My first 2000 Celica did that exact same thing, it is covered under warrenty. You should still take it in to have the starting problem diagnosed as soon as possable. Is your Celica a 2000?

Yeah, it's a 2K GTS six speed. Did they say what the prob. was on the c/c?

Sorry, but I don't know what the problem was with the cruise control :(

I never turned it in for warrenty repair because I traded that car in for another 2000 celica(I went from an auto to a six speed). I do, however, remember that it was a problem for several other people with 2000 Celica's and they had it fixed under warranty, so if your car is still under warranty this shouldn't be a problem. If it isn't, I have no idea how much it would cost to fix because I don't know what was wrong with it in the first place.

Well, thanks for your help. I bought it with a 6 year 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper (paid extra for that) so it will be covered. Just thought I'd check to see if I could help them identify the problem. Thanks again!!!
