I currently have cloth seats in my gt-s with side air bags.. I am looking to switch to a leather interior.. Are there two colors of leather seats?? Black and Gray?? Also, how are the rear seats?? I heard some rear seats remain cloth (like mine) while others have some sort of vinyl leather rear seat covers to match the front seats?? Please advise... I don't pay much attention to other celicas with leather interiors and I have offers to trade for leather... If I trade my front cloth seats for leather seats, should I trade my rear seats with the trader to match the front or do the rears stay cloth??? =T Thanks!

*** ANYBODY interested in trading their leather seats for cloth seats plus a minimal offer, email me mcarlos@adelphia.net ... Thanks!

leather is nice and all, but your sweat trickles all over it in the summer. I wish I had gotten cloth just simply to remove the seats and get Sparcos, now I feel bad doing that because I'd be losing the leather. The back seats are just there, who really cares about them :)

I believe there is only one color of leather....it's dark grey in color.

The seats in a factory leather GTS are leather front and back. My advice if you switch would be to switch both so you can advertise your car as having factory leather and not "some leather traded in."

I'd try to find someone close to you to do the trade with so you can trade in person. Having your car without seats for any amount of time would suck, and shipping on things that large may make the project cost more than it's worth.

I think that the factory leather option is leather facing on the front seats and vinyl on the backs of the fronts and all of the back.

Factory leather is leather all around. Mine are front and back of the front seats and all of the back seats too.

Update: Nevermind, I just checked and the backs of the front seats do look like vinyl. It's very good-looking vinyl, but if you look at the seam along the side of the seat, you can see that the front and back of the seat are covered in 2 different materials. The back seats ARE all leather, though. This is a 2001 GTS.

What year is your car, perhaps they changed but that is not what I have in my 00.

Edit - Interesting, just went to the Toyota site and the option is still described as "Leather Faced Front Seats"????

Unless toyota changed it (which i doubt), the back of your front seats are vinyl and the back seats are also vinyl. The only leather on the seats are on the front side of the front seats. Feel them a bit more carefully.

yeah the only part that is actual leather is the front of the front seats. The back seats are imitation leather, if you look close you can tell.

HERE WE GO AGAIN.

OK

MAYBE
we can get this straight for once

THE ONLY PART OF YOUR SEATS FRONT OR BACK THAT IS REAL

REAL

leather,
is the FRONT OF THE FRONT SEATS.

the back of your front seats and the back seats ARE NOT leather.

I REPEAT NOT LEATHER.

I think this has to be posted at least oh say 89 more times before anyone will get out of denial and realize that.

I doubt that even another 89 time will help but we'll probably get the opportunity to see. :)

Whatever the material is....is or isn't the back seat of a leather car different than a cloth car?

Whatever the hell it is....I still think you would need to trade both front and back to get the whole package.

Yes, to have the interior match you would need both the front and rear seats. :)

It is possible that full leather seats (front and back) were a dealer installed option. Couldn't imagine how much extra that would cost, though.

That is true, I originally responded to Clone's statement regarding Factory leather. :)

who cares what the back of the front seats are made of, its not like you can see or touch them when you're sitting
:D

Yeah, that's just what my racing tires would be rubbing against when I have em back there anyway.....haha

How could someone have a car and not know that only the front of the front seats are leather? This keeps coming up all the time! Within the next couple of weeks you well see more uninformed owners insisting that all over their seats are covered with leather!

You bet you will. I knew before I even had the car that these seats are not 100% leather... didn't stop me from buyin it though. Who cares... .

Hell, I didn't even want leather, but I couldn't find a GT-S without it. I just threw seatcovers over them so I wouldn't screw them up. :gap: I'm somewhat glad I got the leather since I always hear people complaining about their fabric seats staining from water.
