sup guys..
for those with aftermarket flywheels&clutch combos:
you recommend just getting the clutch disc?....or do you hafta to replace the pressure plate also?
also: whas the difference between Street, Race, 3-puck, 4-puck, & 6-puck clutches...
im assuming all the clutch brands make each of these things the same way..
thanx

If you are just going to get the disk, why bother? The new pressure plate has a higher clamping force, so it can actually hold up to higher power levels/abuse.
Not sure the difference between "street" and "race", but the puck type clutches are not ideal for street.
A typical street clutch is 2 pieces. An inner hub and the outer portion with the clutch friction material. They are able to move independentaly, with springs joining them together. The result is some "give" when the clutch engages, and when you get on or off the gas - a shock absorber for the driveline.
The puck types are solid, the hub and friction material are all joined, no more shock absorber.
The fewer the pucks, the greater the loading on each friction face so the harder they bite.
A standard clutch disk is typically slotted, so it would be like a 12 puck design (only with a shock absorber).
How often to replace...
Daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, every decade, how do you drive. Remember, a pro drag race will replace the clutch after a couple of passes down the strip (1000+ hp there though).
For a street car, they ought to last 30,000 to 100,000 miles.
The flywheel should not need replacement very often, you just get the friciton surface machined (or replaced in the case of aluminum flywheels). This machining just gets rid of glazing and any surrface variations.
