View Full Version : Got alignment today - question on rear settings

I finally went and got an alignment today. The guy doing the alignment said that he could only get -.2 degress on one side and -.6 on the other. Is that normal? It occured to me afterwards that this might be related to the ride height issue I've been having - every since I got the koni's put in, the rear has seemed higher (i mentioned this in another thread). It seems like it has come down a little bit in the last week, but its still higher than it was stock.
If my understanding of the rear suspension is correct, then the increased ride height results in positive camber - is that right? Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Thanks for any help!!!

did you use crash bolts? they give you more room to adjust the camber

That doesn't sound normal to me. My guy has had no problems getting -1 to -2 degrees in the rear.
Meadure the height from the ground up to the fender lip (highest point) on your car, and i will get out there and check mine (tomorrow when it is back home). If the shocks were installed properly there should be no significnat height change (I measured before and after on my car, and there was no change).
ishido- the crash bolts are for the front only.

Measured from the ground to the highest point of the fender (which is pretty much through the center of the wheel), stock 16" wheels, stock size tires, came out to just a bit over 27 1/4 ".
If that is high, is it definitely and installation problem, or is it possible that some of the koni's just have more gas in them than others?
Thanks for your help Scott!

Are you sure your alignment guy knew what he was doing? The rear alignment is a little tricky to set. Driver's GT with 15" wheels and Konis will go to -1.7 on one side and -2.0 on the other. Koni sports are a very low pressure gas shock, so I doubt it is the shock unless it is not the right one??? (or possibly the spring was not seated properly?) The Celi has a definite rear high rake to it.

He probably was not adjusting the top camber setting, which is way the heck up in the fender well.... Look for the bannana shaped link that goes from the spindle up to the top of the frame.

Make sure you have the correct Konis with the right spring perch. I had to send my rears back because of this.
Is the spring seated correctly on the perch?
