I would go with OZ, those rims are really high quality. I'll be getting the 'OZ Crono Evolution' 18" om my celica next month :)
It's not cheap though, with tires it will be around 2000$.

i don't know what you'd consider "the top of the line" but all i can say is that volk wheels are used on most of japan's supercars... big named heavy tuners like Signal Auto, Top Secret of Japan and other well named companies use Volk Racing wheels due to the technology and race tuned wheels.

In my opinion, they are the best because they make wheels for all types of racing they make drag/circuit/endurance/street wheels for almost all applications... other companies are more specific and only handle one of the types, where volks does it all!!

Volk Racing Wheels are my favorite, that's why i gottem

OZ are heavy mofo's. If you check the wheel weights of all the OZ's, 90% of them are 50% heavier than Volks.

I read somewhere that at a certain race, 18 out of the 20 race cars were using Volk rims. Volks are the **** when you are looking for a set of strong PERFORMANCE rims. It is the best.

Most Volk rims are forged... thus the high cost. Most Racing Harts are cast, aside from the CP-035 which costs as much, if not more than a good set of Volk TE37s in equal size. Racing Hart/Sprint Hart doesn't seem to be as popular as rims from Volk or Advan, but their quality is right on par.

Racing Hart EVOs are another story tho... they simply aren't in the same league.

nyoneway - "I read somewhere that at a certain race, 18 out of the 20 race cars were using Volk rims. "

70% of Formula 1, and 80% of Rally Cars use OZ wheels. Those cars are a lot more sophisticated than your typical JTCC car. Superleggera 17" cast wheel is 15.5lbs while the Volk Gram Light in the same size is 17.3lbs. OZ forged racing wheels (not available to the public) are lighter than the TE-37 in equal sizes.

OZ chooses not to sell forged magnesium wheels to the public unlike Rays Engineering. Simply because magnesium wheels require regular inspections and for street use do not lost as long as aluminum wheels. Rays sell magnesium wheels in Japan because most performance cars there see less than 7.000 miles a year and the roads are in immaculate condition compared to European and especially American roads.

Superleggera, is the only exception to OZ. It is casted.

Yes, OZ makes rims for Pros. Like you say, its not available to the public like Volks. Most of the OZ rims are heavier than average. They are made for looks.

Volk TE-37 and LE-37 are forged monoblock aluminum. Not magnesium. And its available to us.

Like I said, Volks are the best rims you can buy.

IMHO, the top 3 Japanese wheel companies are: Volk, SSR and Advan. They all make strong, lightweight wheels that are super high quality.
