As some of you know the 3s-ge that s in some Altezza models in Japan has dual vvt-i and put out 210 hp on a 2.0 litre engine, thats without lift.
So I have been doing somresearch the past couple of days and this is what I cam up with, any comments or suggestion no how to do it would be greatly appreciated.
These are translations from mostly japanese pages so if some stuuf doesn't make sense please understand..
DUAL VVT-i
( Dual Variable Valve Timing - intelligent )

* The intake and the exhaust camshaft it responded to operational state valve timing
Controlling, advanced * low improvement of fuel economy and emission efficiency you assure

By the VVT-i pulley the variable angle
Intake side Exhaust Side
Consecutively 50 degree Consecutively 30 degree

Idle operational limits (when parking)

Aim
Delay the IN side overlap to the utmost little spitting to paragraph inhalation side you lose

When there is overlap, when overlapping the exhaust enters to inhalation side and the following combustion deteriorates
Effect
Idling revolution stability

With respect to of burning expense direction

Middle load limits (usual takeoff acceleration time)
Valve Timing

Aim
IN side is opened quickly and overlap the exhaust flows largely to paragraph inhalation side
(Inside EGR) because of this
Burning temperature decrease -> NOx decrease
The re-inhalation of HC -> HC decrease
Furthermore vacuum of the inlet pipe is eased and decreases the pumping loss when sucking

Effect
With respect to of burning expense direction

Exhaust pure characteristic
Improvement

It is light the load limits (after the accelerating, at fixed speed when travelling)

Valve Timing

Aim
Overlap it is little the paragraph
Spitting to inhalation side little you lose

Effect

Engine rpm stability

High load it is low the medium speed rotary limits (after the parking full acceleration state) (uphill road acceleration state)

Valve Timing

Aim

It makes IN valve closing timing quick, inhalation the large quantity at the point in time when it enters the IN valve closes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Open timing of the EX valve it makes slow, receives combustion pressure sufficiently with the piston and torque improves

Effect
Engine rpm stability

High load turning at full speed limits (surpassing acceleration high revolution in the midst of highway travelling)

Valve Timing

Aim
IN valve closing timing is made slow,
Is late vis-a-vis piston speed the inhalation which
Into the cylinder it adopts

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Open timing of the EX valve it makes quick,
That the exhaust discharges from early on the piston easy to rise does

Effect

With respect to of coming out power direction

Tempering 4 cylinder sport twin cams which were lifted, BEAMS 3s-GE DUAL VVT-i
In addition to the former inhalation valve, the DUAL VVT-i which also the control of the exhaust valve is done (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) it loads. According to engine rpm and accelerator opening, because the computer optimizes the opening and closing timing of the inhalation and exhalation of air valve continually, inhalation and exhalation of air efficiency improves furthermore over entire area, raises output * torque. In addition, you adopt the worldwide first titanium alloy make valve for the inhalation and exhalation of air valve in 6 fast manual cars as mass production car. The valve itself being lightened substantially, polishing depends on the light response. The important point which accelerates the exciting impression of another

that's a n/a 3S-GE engine? jeez 210ps is good considering that was only putting out like 215hp with the 3S-GTE which was turboed...

The 3S-GE actually came out before the 3S-GTE did. I love the BEAMS 3S-GE. I am patiently waiting for Toyota to release a dual VVTL-i engine. I think if the BEAMS 3S-GE were to incorporate lift technology 250+hp wouldn't be unheard of.

I thought the VVTL-i was already equipped on both the intake and exhaust cams on the 2ZZ?

The lift portion of the system is incorperated on both intake and exhaust. The variable cam timing is only on the intake cam.
