At 7800 RPM's your engine simply not allow you to go any faster in that gear. (8300 for us 00-01 owners)... Your needle will keep bouncing until you shift.

Yup, it just kind of sounds like da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da

Not a big deal really, just a subtle reminder to think about shifting soon.

It does feel like you hit the brakes though, you go from brisk acceleration to constant speed, that is very noticable.

Oh so thats what it was. I was watching one of the videos in the intake/exhaust chart and I heard that da-da-da-da sound. So now I know what it is. Is it safe to constantly hit fuel cutoff or does it do any damage? Thanks

It just stops any further increase in fuel flow and ignition, and is designed to NOT hurt the engine (aren't computers wonderful...),
but it gets kinda annoying to hit it regularly and reduces overall performance. A skilled driver knows the sound of his engine, and shifts just before redline. (an AXer knows that bumping it less than 10 times before having to slow down for the next feature is quicker than an upshift/downshift)
