so the other day i went golfing for the first time in a year or so. man that sucked ass. i could never hit the driver without slicing, but i could hardly hit anything in the air. ive always been using my grandpa's extra clubs. you think longer and heavier clubs would help?

I have trouble getting my driver off the ground, but everything else seems to be ok, So I pretty much just tee off with my 3W I can hit it about 300-325 yds. I did have my shafts lengthend though, it made a little improvment, cause regular clubs are a little to short for me.

Chris is pretty damned tall. Then again, so are you Jay.
Many old sets of irons are blades. Maybe that's the problem? Or are you cutting the top of the ball?

Graphite shafts? I found graphite doesnt work for me, cause I swing to hard. hahaha I keep telling myself nice and easy, but when I go to swing I always swing hard. graphite flexes to much , after changing to steel shafts its a lot better.
skamikaze
02-07-2005, 04:46 PM
yeah it's graphite. my dad told me i should change, but im too cheap to buy my own clubs. i guess i should huh.
QWKsilvr808
02-07-2005, 04:52 PM
Same for me, can't swing graphite shafts for my irons. I've learned to take an easy swing with my driver tho, so i use a graphite shaft for that one.
I did some time at the range once and tried to modify my swing to work out a slice. Then it focked me all up because I spent too much time thinking about what I was doing. It took me 3 months to get everything working again.

i be worried about graphite shafts.. since they cost more and arnt as durable. i dont think the shaft would help you hit any better though, if anything i would think your overall distance would change (not sure if its better or worse).
maybe one of those drivers with the huge titanium heads. theyre really light weight and you can get some pretty good momentum on the down swing. my friend has a big bertha and i think its almost impossible to miss.
also, i am 5'8" just in case anyone is interested.

i think it does. if you swing down hard/fast (like i do). the shaft flexes backwards, and it fucks everything up.

I always used to slice hard with my drivers, I could literally stand 45 degrees to the right and slice all the way across the hole left, but when you concentrate on bringing your club head across so its a closed face when you make contact with the ball, you can start to control the slice and then start aiming with a controlled curve to where you want it.

Definitely. I tried using graphite with my irons, but because I swing hard with them the timing was always slightly off because of the amount of flex. They have stiff graphite shafts, but to me they still don't compare to steel.
I'm still using my Taylor Made 360Ti driver. It's seen some years of use but it's a trustworthy club. :)

I have the same driver, when I first got it I could murder the ball with that thing, but for some reason I cant hit it to save my life now. hahaha
QWKsilvr808
02-08-2005, 04:50 PM
same as me. When I first got it I was killing it straight all the way down the middle of the fairway. After awhile something changed in my swing and it just wouldn't work unless I took an easier swing. Wierd. Now I swing easy and it seems to work better. :)

Whenever I do manage to hit my driver consistantly, I cant seem to hit my irons, its weird I can either do one or the other, so thats pretty much why I just cheat and use my 3w. hahahaha
QWKsilvr808
02-08-2005, 06:31 PM
LOL, I can't hit my 3W for shit. It always stays in the bag. I use either my driver or a 4W. I dunno what it is about the 3.

LOL My short game is the only thing that saves me, I'm pretty accurate from 100 yards out, and pretty much 1-2 putt everything, to bad it takes me forever to get there though.

Hmm not bad. I don't mind forking the dough over to play there. If we play at Luana Hills it's half that price w/the super-dooper Mark hookup. But we'll prolly lose $25 in balls and spend the same amount anyway hahaha.
