I've seen the 00-01 GTS do 0-60 as low as 6.5 sec. My guess for the GT would be around 7.5ish...? Anyone know? I've never been able to time it properly in my car...

well my gt was stock and i got it to run a 0-60 time of 7 secs flat....but it was determined that my gt was a mutant gt..i got lucky i guess...and that 0-60 time was with a bad shift from 1-2 i didnt bring it right to redline but i did it in second gear..i also got the run on video from the inside..i would post a video but i dont have the program to uplaod videos from my digital camera to the comp.....can anyone tlel me what i need to do this..
Also dont believe magazine times ..they are ussually siginificantly slower

7 second 0-60 in a stock GT??? WOW.....are you sure they didn't stick in a 2zz under your hood by accident?? I believe on average a stock GT will do about 8.5 for a manual, and 9.5 for automatic.

less for a manual, more for an auto...
there isn't that huge of a difference between the GT and GT-S going through 2nd gear
of course 0-60mph is worthless and no one except the common car buyer uses it. def not entusiants
i would suggest asking questions like this in the newbie section

i happen to like 0-60 times! cause most races on the street only go up to 60 anyways from light to light. id rather have a 3.9 0-60 like a turbo porsche, than a ****ty 6.6 in a gt-s :p

What you guys use... a stop watch? cd player? I wonder how accurate your claims are.
Who cares about 0-60 times anyways? It's a poor measurement of a cars performance.

I just got a 2001 celica so I'm a newb to all this, but why are 0-60 times not an accurate measure of a car's performance? It seems to me that it would be a good indication of its acceleration. What makes 1/4 mile times better? Thanks.

When you go the 1/4 mile track they tell you your time which should be very accurate. When we just measure our 0-60 with a stop watch its not very accurate. Especially with speedometers off etc.

Ah, I see, thanks. Where can you go to a track such as this? I live in Charleston, SC; is there a website that would let me search for tracks in my area?
