Here is the problem: When I turn my wheel sharply in either direction there is a loud whining noise, the further I turn the louder the noise, It also changes sound with the idle of the car, ex: the higher the rpms the higher pitched the noise and vice versa. At first I thought it was connected to my power steering pump or closely related but I didnt think it would change sounds along with my rpm's, Im now thinking it could be my belt tensioner but I am a begginer in the mechanic field. I just wanted to get an opinion from the board before I took it in and had some "professional" convince me to make a number of repairs that arent really needed. Sorry for being long winded but money is kinda tight for us college kids. Any help is appreciated!

11 years with no response God damn!!! check the PS pump hose cuz I'm having the same issue. doubt your even in this forum anymore though!

fuck it, some people may be havin the same problem, and need an answer...... his car must have been pretty new still tho!

11 years with no response God damn!!! check the PS pump hose cuz I'm having the same issue.You could have just made your own thread in the repair & maintenance section. Too many possibilities today after 11 years for the problems the OP described back in 2001. The most likely candidate back then was the faulty belt tensioner though as you would not expect anything else on a car that was barely a year old if any.

As for why his post went unanswered back then there are endless possibilities too. The forum has another format back then and that could have meant that the post could have gotten lost in the different postings each day. I don't see why you seem to make such an issue of it without knowing all the details. It's been 11 years, a lot of things change in 11 years.
