Why not just get rid of the harness?

Or just get a harness bar if you are sentimentally attached to it?
It's not safe to drive on the street with a full cage. Your head will go kablooey if you crash and bash your un-helmeted noggin on one of the bars.
The point of the cage/harness bar is to allow you to mount the harness the correct way, where it will be able to do it's job and not become a safety hazard.

you drive for fun on canyon roads knowing there is a chance to flip. why not just go to the track, and save your life.
this is what you are looking for.

:werd: you should get rid of your airbags too if you're gonna go with a cage/harness.

It's not safe to drive with just a harness bar and a harness, minus a roll cage... In the event the car flips you will get decapitated.

By what?
There are a ridiculous number of conflicting opinions on the cage/harness debate. No one ever seems to post any kind of evidence of outside data though.
I'd like to know the real facts.

My point exactly.
Back to the debate:)
It's all just a matter of being able to move your head out of the way in case of an accident where the roof collapses. Don't believe me? Strap yourself in a 4 point harness and have a friend take a bunch of jabs and hooks at your face... see if you'll be able to dodge the blows.
And then post the pics of the aftermath :D

have you seen a roll over accident in person before?
Ahrar

when i mean in person i mean hands on...not just a rollover but serious accident. I have picked up body parts and when its your time go a roll cage or no roll cage will save you.

Easy answer dont push your car so hard as to risk your life. I would assume you dont have a wife and kids if you put yourself at risk so often as to need a roll cage on private roads. If you are going to track your car its a different story. The danger with full harness and no rollcage is if the roof collapses then your neck will be the breaking point b/c your body is secured from moving foreward to allow your head to be pushed down. Is this possible yes, probable who knows. I woulnt risk it but at the same time I'm not going to widow my wife driving like crazy in an uncontrolled environment.

Oh boy...
First, there's the post in the ricing forum about how you're the "handling king" in all of California. Never mind the fact that you obviously do not know how to drive canyons very well.
Then, you posted looking for people to run canyons with you.
Now, you're asking about roll cages? People are driving canyons without them and do just fine.
You've worn out your welcome; now you're just nothing more than another fucking tool who watches too much Initial D.

never watched Initial D...sorry.
What would be the risks associated with a 4-point harness, and a roll bar w/ a harness bar (something along the line of an Autopower Street-Sport Roll Bar)?

It won't do anything to save the car from being crushed because it has no trianglulation.
It's a show piece.

I have no idea IMP, basically I have the money to get a roll cage/bar(and some other stuff) or whatever you call it here. I know its something I don
I was under the impression that Autopower bars were functional...anyone know?

^^^^^ :werd:
Nasioc is a pretty good site with lots of good info. I got hooked when my old roomie got a scoobi. If youre going to do a cage, do a cage all the way, none of that single bar crap if you want it to save you.

You do realize that a good rollcage will add close to 500lbs to your car, right? You have to weight both the pros and the cons here. Yes, a roll cage will add structural integrity, making the car's suspension system more solid... but that will make your car closer to 3000lbs... a detriment to both acceleration and handing, especially for a car that's anemic with torque.

I totally forgot about that.Yeah forget it then,I will just have to get the Sparco harness bar and hope I will never be involved in a rollover accident.
