OK. On page 140 of the May issue of Road and Track there in an ad for the Pace cars of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. One is a '03 Matrix with BBS 19 x 8.5 alloys, and a TRD supercharger on the 2ZZ pumping out 247bhp @ 7400 rpm.

My only question is why isn't TRD pushing this kind of stuff for the Celica. They should be sending out flyers or calling Celica owners to see just how big the market is for something like this.

same reason why the celica shouldn't be carrying the GTS badge. that's reserved for fast cars like the Viper.

and in case some people didn't get it...that's a photoshopped pic! nobody's car actually looks like that. although the hood scoop was done pretty realistically...

also, considering the amount of body modification from the original corolla it was based on, it's more like a big hatch than a small wagon.

it's the same thing. ran almost same times. except one has pontiac dealerships to worry about, the other has toyota. it mostly comes down to the looks. and vibe doesn't have the GT 180hp model in auto.

1. If the Matrix had a TRD supercharger on a 2ZZ-GE that is a GOOD thing! That means they WILL have a kit for the Celica.

2. The Celica had the GT-S name badge LONG before the Viper was even conceptualized.


I would LOVE to have a Matrix. I think I might buy one after I move to FL. It give Toyota kudos for trying to mix the SUV with the sport market. Think about it for a second. It has the ability to haul sh!t around, and still be fun to drive when you want to reve the piss out of it. Can you say that about a highlander, or an Escape? No.

I think the Matrix XRS sitting next to my Celica GT-S in the garage would be a nice site.

vibe is only in 6-speed manual for the VVTL-i 180hp version...

and i'm pretty sure some other car had to have had GTS before the celica :) either way, the Viper came and stole it. too bad. :p
