Uhm, No...Claying is easy, just time consuming. You want to start with a clean car. I would not recomend dish soap. Normal soap will work good enough, plus I am not sure if Blue Coral will get rid of some wax anyway...but one thing to be sure of is to make sure you use the detailing spray (be generous with) with the clay (or lubricating spray it is referred to also)

with the clay, make sure you keep the surface well lubricated because a dry sruface will make the clay stick to the paint and it will be hard to take it off. Make sure you knead the clay (break it up into small pieces first) as it gets dirty so you don't drag dirt across the paint and create swirls and scratches.

it depends on the kit, but it should come with good directions. When you go and buy your clay bar, look at all the different kinds and read the directions for each kind of claybar.

the Mothers clay bar I used has good directions.
simple version:
-wash and dry the car as usual
-break the clay bar in half, store the second half in a zip-lock bag for another time (these bars are similar to silly putty)
-roll it into a ball
-flatten out into a pancake about 3" in diameter
-spray about 1 sq ft area with the quick detailer spray that came with it
-set the pancake down and slowly slide back and forth across the wet area (you will feel that it slides easier when the paint is clean
-wipe up the excess detailing spray with a clean rag
-roll clay into ball
-flatten out starting the whole process again
-if you accidentally drop the clay on the ground either throw it out and start with a new piece or use a knife to cut the contaminated pieces off

Exactly I was really confused when I first clay barred my car, The directions that I got sucked but I figured it out that is exactly what you do, you will really be able to tell a difference, when you are going over areas with the clay bar, it will get smoother and smoother,

It is basically the cleaner of the 21st century it takes alot of work and time but it cleans eveything out of your paint, I try and do it twice a year I just did my dad's car and overall washing Claying and then putting on and Sealer and a coat of Carnuba it took about 6-8 hours, but damn his car looks good, I will be doing mine, in the next week or so,
Oh back on topic it's a cleaner that uses a bar of clay to pull the dirt out of your paint.

Ok I normally wax my car in 3 step's
1. Cleaner (In this case it is the clay bar it strips the old wax and gets all the crap out of the paint
2. Sealer ( I use Meguiars or Mothers Sealer and Glaze this step protects your paint)
3. Carnuba ( For this I use Meguiars or Mothers Pure Carnuba Wax This just makes the car shiney and Smooth)

No need for another cleaner that's what the clay bar is for, as for the swirl marks they should have been taken away by the claybar.
BTW never use a cleaner wax unless you are lazy they do a good job but never as good as doing it all individually.

ok cool so when i use the clkay bar i can just go striahg tto the polish and then to the straigjht wax..i nderstand now..i guess thats why they dont include the clay bar in any of the step processes that these products offer..
