Been seeing like a **** load of ad's for this **** all around and in a ton of mags, just wodnering if anyones tried this out yet or not. I been running Mobil 1 for almost 3 years now, so i usually never change but how is this stuff supposed to be? They acutally make two versions, i dunno which one i would pick:

Advanced-Full Synthetic
High RPM- Full Synthetic Blend

www.qpower.com

Over at the Lexus dealership that i have some friends work at said the new GS's are recommending Quaker State Advanced....not sure if this is true or not but the last few Oil changes they did they used Advanced.

Is it cheaper or more expensive when compared to mobil 1?

If this new oil has lots of additives, Mobil 1 will still be better (less sludge buildup, more actual oil in use). Check out the link prometheum posted:

A couple things:

1. The oil is marketed. I don't like products that are marketed. That usually means they don't sell themselves. Much like a pop-band, they satisfy many while doing nothing special.

2. They never compared the oil to another synthetic.

3. They rant and rave over their special additive package when faith in additives couldn't be lower (see Blue's link).

4. They have no backing. They paid Funkmaster Flex to make the only notable endorsement, and they casually admit only Panoz and two Shelbys (both very small companies---could have been financially persuaded) use the oil.

5. Everything they hyped is true for all synthetics. Better protection, better resistance to high temps, "heat" activated (actually talking about the way the molecule changes under higher heat--this is true for all synthetics).

Plus I never thought of Quaker State as more than a bargain basement oil.

DON'T USE QUAKER STATE!!! If you'd ever rebuilt a motor that has been run with Quaker State, you'd know why. Quaker State oil has a high amount of parafin in it, and it creates a sludge through all the journals, etc in the interior of your motor. I took the vavle cover off a V8 one time, only to see the exact mold of the inside of the cover inside, and you couldn't see anything else!!

doesn't that build up also happen when you dont change your oil properly?

I've run it on my car for the last year engines still squeaky clean.

I use the full synthetic 5w30

The synthetic is probably the difference. The motors I was referiring to I am sure were not using synthetic. The build-up can happen if you don't change your oil often enough, but not that severe.

Doesn't mobil1 have a new synthetic oil out too? I saw it in walmart the other day. It said extended use or something and lasts 15000 miles. Also Penzoil has new stuff out called Penzoil Platinum....

Mobil 1 Extended Performance motor oil is designed for today's longer service intervals. Mobil 1 Extended Performance products contain 50 percent more SuperSyn, 37 percent more cleaning agents, and 36 percent more anti-wear additives than Mobil 1.:thumbdown

If I go longer between oil change intervals, do I need to change my oil filter more frequently? Or do I need a special filter?

Continue to change your oil filter when you change your engine oil. Special filters, or more frequent oil filter changes are not required.

I have 10k on one oil change and 2 filters on Redline oil. And the stuff still looks better then when my Mobil 1 did at 3k.
