Finally got some news about the damage to my engine.

Looks light. The exhaust valves floated and kissed the pistons (in all four cylinders.) Just enough to bend the valves slightly.
The oil pump shaft also cracked.

So I'll be getting the guides checked, valves and oil pump replaced and then get the car back. Maybe a week; probably more.

No issues with main bearings, cams, pistons, rings, etc.

Here's hoping....

Here's a link to some pics of the engine as it is now, out of the car and partially disassembled.

A couple key pics:

Look for the small shiny patches on the exhaust valves and on the pistons by the valve reliefs. Theat's where the valves floated and contacted the pistons, bending the valves slightly.

Also note how SMALL the entire engine is! I was amazed how small it all is! Really small bore and stroke. I knew the displacement was low, but looking down the bores made me truly realize how little 1.8L really is. The last engine I looked at like this was the 6.7L V8 in my old Nova. Major difference.

Watch out! I'm not real good at this link posting thing! Make sure you open it in a new window, or it'll take the present one over.

Of course, most of you know that already, unlike me.
