Just debut an hour ago at the Geneva Auto Show. The IS350 may come later in the NY Auto show.
Love the new upscale interior.

Well of course I did. Asians are born knowing numbers, and simple math like multi-variable calculus.
However, why is it now the 250? I though they were just going to do the IS350 and then IS450?

So far there's 3 engine choices:
- Turbo Diesel (approx 175hp)
- 2.5ltr V6 (approx 215hp)
- 3.5ltr V6 (speculated 315hp)
2 choice of tranny:
- Sequential Auto 6sp
- 6sp manual (rumours only available on the 2.5ltr and diesel engine)

Lexus is going to start using the marketing approach of BMW. That is, Lexus is going to do engine upgrades in each model's lifecycle. What that means is that the engines will carry over to a new generation (in this case from the current IS to the 2006 IS), and when the car is due for an update, new engines along with minor cosmetic updates will be introduced. This way more people will buy the cars. It's a bit of a scam if you ask me, but knowing this, I would just wait a few years until a model gets its midcycle update with a more powerful engine. Another business model Lexus is following is having various engine sizes a la Merc, Audi, and BMW as mentioned.

don't like the new interior. what made the 1st gen IS so different was the little touches like the chronograph gauge, chrome ball and drilled aluminum pedals. plus it had a modern industrial looking interior. now it looks like every other lexus interior.

Tell me, why would we need 2 IS threads?
The reason why I closed yours is because yours was more of "this is what the next IS will look like", and left this one open because this one is more of "this is what the next IS looks like". My comment about IS300.net was somewhat sarcastic/jokish. If you feel "cheated" that I closed your thread, well...I'm sorry.

this car is perfection... it will eat into the BMW volume. Especially in Europe were the overwhelming majority of beemers are diesel... as this lex has a very promising diesel...
mb and bmw are shaking in their boots.

well, you could've combined both threads since my scans were of the actual car.

This car is perfection. This is the best looking car Toyota ever built. The new Chris Bangle destroyed 3 series would get slaughtered by this IS. It is a 1000% improvement over the current generation IS300, which was really a rebadged Toyota Altezza and nothing special about it. No offense but, this car's back end looks nothing like the ugly as hell backend of Scion TC (back end looks like a Pontiac G6, the rear deck is too short and sticking up in the air). The only thing that looks like TC is the rear fender line. That is it. Lexus is all set to take over the luxury segment.

i agree that to survive in europe you need a diesel version of every car. especially in this segement of compact sport saloons.

more than likely it'll be comparable to a 2005 IS300. i can't see them charging more for the 250 or 300 model whichever one we get. the IS350 will definetly be more considering what it comes with.

Looks like they ripped of the TSX's interior...right now to the gauge clusters. I don't know how to post pics so many someone can post comparisons.

I like this new design, even if it looks close to a TC.. it's a real mean performing TC, kinda like a TC deluxe ed.
Now.. If they could only redesign the SC back to something a lil more sporty again.

you can say that about acura as well. lexus pioneered the intergrated center dash with the very first LS. and of course the celica and rsx gauges, vents and seats.

Hey Rich, remember me? It's Andrew, the guy who chose the GT-S over the tC (so glad I did). This new IS. Good choice, Rich. Tell me one thing: after having owned 3 fun-to-drive stick shifts, why auto all of a sudden?
Off topic: I've seen talks about this on the board, but since u work w/ Toyota u would know: did they really put in a 7800rpm rev limiter on the '05 Celicas? Cuz that sux (but not for me:wiggle: ).

i'll be 30 next year! plus i wouldn't mind having a true 6spd F1 paddle shifter. sequential transmission are getting better where performance times are similar and the computer is finally rev-matching and double clutching. of course nothing beats a true manual transmission but the wife wants to be able to drive the car without me in it.
the 04-05 celica's did not have the early cut-offs just the 02-03.

man thats incredibly lame how are they only going to have the 6 speed on the diesel engine? will the states even get the diesel version?
and how the hell does a 2.5 liter v6 make 215 hp when it redlines at 6500? its gotta be pulling some magic

I watch Top Gear and it seems England has diesel versions of many of the newer cars that we don't. I don't think they would sell them here, probably b/c of emmissions regulations?
