what misshift from 6th to 1st?!? waited all 12 cycles to get in first then droped the clutch sh!t that sounds like damage from like 20000rpms cuz our vvtL-i engines can handle up to 12 rpms safely in gear reving up but that sounds like instant 20k rpm damage i told my buddy who went to trd school and thats what he told me to say (i'm on the phone with him)

someone said the motor can handle high rev, but if you misshift, it revs too fast, and the VVT-i timing can't adjust in time and it has timing for under 8000rpm going for 12000+rpm...
i doubt the stock motor can go over 9000rpm safely though.

the 2zz probably cant even handle 9000RPMS

Actually, the problem of misshifting is just that all of a sudden not only is the engine going too fast, it's being mechanically forced to do so from the tranny side.

you blew a GT motor? tell me slick.........how'd you do that?

You can blow any engine by misshifting. Just because it doesn't have lift doesn't mean that mechanically over-revving an engine doesn't make things go BOOOM.

Right on, CloNeGTS, I don't think that many people realize that. When you misshift your engine isn't turning your wheels anymore, your wheels are turning your engine.

Jim.. if you are forking for the bill why not do something while its out.. the engine wont come fully together..if your getting a new head and block then get custom pistons and what not now while its out and apart..

Agreed. At least not regularly and reliably.

I talked to Jim, larry, and that is what he is planning to do. He has already sourced and bought a new engine. But i think he's ooking to Gude and some others to get parts for the whole engine. The car will be out of commission for quite some time.

Yeah, I priced forged pistons and head work. The head work will run about $1500 from Gude, the pistons and rods about $1000. I'm not sure I want to put money into the new motor that is going into the car just yet. I will be getting another car as my banger to get places. I may see if the block is anygood from my old motor and build it up. It just all depends. I am putting in the Fidenzza flywheel and ACT street racing clutch. According to bottle the TRD LSD's are no longer in production and the Cusco LSD takes forever to get, if you can get it.
For $3600 I might buy yet another motor to complete build up. I plan on keeping this car for a long time so I mine as well save up and do it all at once.

Oh, and picture will be coming ass soon as I get the old motor to my house. I am going to write a nice document on the engine.
