I have a question.. I went to Circuit City and I fell in love with the Jensen In-Dash DVD/CD Player With 7" Motorized Screen (VM9510). The price of the unit is $700. I was ready to buy it and get it installed by Circuit City. Then they asked me if I had the JBL system in my car and I told them yes. They told me that in order to get this unit to work they will have to re-wire my whole car and buy the speakers since the JBLs will not be compatible. They quoted me $1500 between the unit, infinity speakers, installation, re-wiring, wires, etc. I'm just curious if this is true or they are trying to get me to buy the speakers and stuff. Please let me know..... here is a pic of the unit:

they're jipping you.... if you have the jbl speakers stick with 'em, you paid for them anyways. i install car audio/video at best buy and i've heard this a lot....if they aren't a direct fit there's always a speaker harness that will work.

Ok, here is the deal, I went to this website:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/

The price of the unit is $699 which is a really good price, also they will give u: FREE Installation Mounting Kit and Wiring Harness. I called them up just to make sure that it will fit my OEM JBL speakers and they told me that it won't.
I kept on seaching and I found another at:

http://www.cardomain.com/sku/JENVM9510

The price of the unit is $759.95, and the had they had the option of lowering the price if i found something cheaper so I completed their form and got the price down to $ 695, by the way the cupon code is URNJZ . They will also provide me with :
Car Stereo Wiring Harness
Car Stereo Installation Kit ( DIN)

I called them up to ask them the same question and they asked my if my car had an amplifier, to my knowledge the JBL system has an amplifier, so I told them yes and they told me that the wiring harness I should get is:

The TA03B is a power lead wiring harness and factory amplifier interface for Toyota and Lexus vehicles with the factory 8-speaker audio system. Utilizes the aftermarket head unit's 4-channel preamp (RCA) outputs. Use when replacing the factory head unit, but keeping the factory speakers.

Toyota Applications:
2000-Up Celica with factory amplified 8-speaker audio system
Lexus Applications:
2001-Up IS300

Please somebody tell me that this is all I need.... I can believe it, first I can't use a PFC because of the freaking DBW and now my JBL speakers are being a problem, but i love the sound of them.. please assist.

I don't get it! Why is installing an after market HU in our Celica's such a pain? I have a 2001 GT and last week on Wednesday I bought a JVC KD-DV5100 at Best Buy. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6986096&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat52600050007&id=1099389601316
The salesman I talked with said it would fit in my car... no problems...
Of course their same day installation does not really mean that so I had to schedule an appointment for Saturday. The salesman said they had all the parts in the store needed to do the install and all I had to do was show up on Saturday morning. At 10 AM I arrive to have it installed. I'm in no rush and decide to do some shopping at the mall. They call me 2 hours later saying they don't have the proper harness and that I would have to go buy one and bring it to them. (Note I had already paid for a harness they said was in stock). I talked to a manger who appeared over worked/under paid and couldn't give a crap about my situation. He finally agreed he would have one of his guys go over to Circuit City and get the proper harness. My gf and I go do some more shopping... 2 hours later they call saying they can't install this unit at all unless they by pass the factory amp. At this point I was so ticked off I told them to put my factory HU back in and refund my money for the JVC. After a few minutes of arguing with me they finally did.

Someone please help me understand. Are our Celicas just weird this way or are these stores full of BS?
