Went to the track

Well, it was my first time out. I've got a 2001 GT-S 6-speed with an Injen CAI. My goal for the night was just to get in the 14s since it seems like that is kinda tough for this car. I got to make about 12 runs, but my best one was my forth with 14.962 @ 92.26. I was happy with that for my first time out with no mods besides the intake.

The great thing was nobody could believe it. They all thought I had engine work done or that it wasn't my first time. They said the fastest celica they've seen was a 15.2xx. I'm sick of people thinking our cars are slow.

There was only one other new celica there, and unfortunately he shifted into reverse at the end of his run and pretty much destroyed it. Sad.

Anyway, I really need to work on my launch and reaction times. It was pretty bad, but I was mostly concentrating on getting a good 60' time instead of getting a good reaction time.

nice time, jus practice a lil more and unbolt ur ehxuast and sure enough you'll be in the mid 14's area...and wtf is up with the other celica shifting into reverse?!?!...anyways good runs

Nate you seriously need to unbolt that exhaust. the stocker is restrictive as heck. you'll get a ton of hp around 6k rpms.
your trap speeds should get up to 95mph or so

can you just type up your best time slip. it's easier to comment on it if you give some info

also, at my track the 2nd fastest celica did a 15.4@92
dang they need to learn to stay above 6k on the 1-2 :)

Yeah, I definitely plan on unbolting the exhaust next time. I didn't even know I was going to the track, it was kinda spontaneous so I didn't really have a chance to prepare. I think I'm hooked now. It just sucks that the track is 2 hours away from me. I'd love to get in the mid 14s. I saw mustang gt's and cobras that were running 14.9xx+ with a mid 14 here and there. Made me feel really good about my times. There was a WRX that got a 13.0xx, the guy said he'd put 10 grand in the car. I thought he'd be in 12s for that much. Anyway heres the whole slip. I'd scan it but my roomates still asleep and he's got the scanner.

Only a CAI, and very little practice? Nice run! Anyway, WHY the heck did that other guy shift into reverse at the end of a drag race? That must be the WORST misshift of all time!

Thanks man. As for the other celica, I never got a close look at it but it must have been a GT to throw it into reverse like that. It was towards the end of the 1/4 mile and all of a sudden you see his reverse lights come on. Must have been going for 4th and hit reverse. Poor feller.
