View Full Version : all becuase of a wiring harness?

Ok so my stupid friends bought a 2001 engine and ecu, but bought a 2001 wiring harness. Could that be the reason why his speedometer, tach, and headlights dont work?

I mean a 2001 engine and ecu, and a 2000 wiring harness. Originally he pugged in the gt cluster and it didnt work so he bought a gts one and it still doesnt work, It lights up and gives the temp and gas but no tach or speedometer

I would say that's probably it.... tell him to go find hisself a 2000 ecu, maybe that'll do the trick.

cant he just got a pfc? Why would he want to get a 2000 ecu if his engine is an 01?

I think it matters more how the ECU matches the wire harnes sthat how the motor matches the ecu in terms of year. I know my '03 motor works just fine with my '01 ecu (and actually.... '03 engine wire harness). I don't know... obviously I would double check all connections, make sure none are loose or forgotten.

well the ecu matches the engine. The only thing that doesn match is the wiring harness. He has decided to get a pfc and get a 01 harness and see what happens
