anyone know of any good pedals to make heel toe shifting easier? am i just that lame or is it hard in the celica. the pedal heights are too different and makes it hard.

It's easier on a celica becuase the gas and brake are close to each other.

Heel-toe shifting is for circuit comp. or drifting. Not for daily driving unless you're just a moron and think it makes you cool to do that all the way during your morning commute :wtf:

These are the pedals I use, they have adjustable brake and accelerator pedals...

And, back on topic, yeah... heel/toe shifting is just hard and takes a lot of practice.

they don't sell in a set of three? it seems like you have to buy em all separate.

No, 'cause you have a choise between the 'large' or 'small' gas pedal.

well somebody knowledgable in cars who is behind you would recognize the brake lights and hear the throttle blip :gap:

try sitting a little bit on your left hip, not so much that your uncomfortable, but enough so that you dont have to twist your knee/ankle that much untill you get the flexibility & coordination down.
I found the gt-s pedals a bit more difficult to heel toe (at first) due to the gas pedal height not being the same height as the brake pedal.
also if you ever need to use a 1st gear turn and have to gear down under hard breaking heel toe is the only way to get it in because you have to rev match to get it in gear in 1st at higher rpms, very helpful on auto x ;)

i use the method daily. dont see why you shouldnt. i see more purpose than to "show off".

Buying the gas pedal in large would be better for heel toe right? Also, when they say these are adjustible, can you make hte brake nad gas pedal be level with each other?
I really like those pedals....

You can adjust how close the pedals are to each other (horizontally). The little part on the bottom right of the brake and the bottom left of the accelerator move side to side a little bit.

Heel toe is beneficial for daily driving. It reduces wear on your tranny. My buddys transfer case got busted because he didn't heel toe. Sure he has 400whp but still.

yep... the gas pedal is lower so it's harder. When i first did it, i had to like actually PRESS on the gas pedal if i need it to go up to like, 4k. But in daily driving, i just shift to the gear that i should be in when i take the turn, and then just rev match by blipping the throttle while taking the turn.

Heel toeing isn't really needed in daily driving, i guess you could argue it helps the tranny last, a little, mostly its just for taking turns at top speeds and blasting out of an apex or 30.
i think its plain retarded to rag on some one for learning with daily driving, would you prefer he take it to the track, do it in front of you, mess up and block your smart ass from the best line?

to make things easier its more of a heel ball shift. Sliding your foot up on the brake makes it much easier to get your heel onto the gas. Or with big/wide feet, i do the lazy big toe little toe down shift. Press the brake with your big toe andand blip with the pinky toe side. I do it just to put less ware on my syncros ( but that requires a stop in neutral on the way). In all pretty easy and not as cool as it sounds.

i'll admit i do it in my daily driving, not only for practical reasons, but mainly for the enjoyment of driving my celica. i never intend to autox my daily driver since it's my only car, so i guess i won't be "up there" with all the guys who take it to the track who are just too cool. my mods are modest, after all.
i'll continue doing it in the morning commute as the geek, and not the cool guy, that i am, thank u very much. (and can't wait til i get those trd sways!!)

I rarely ever downshift, but those few instances when I do, i acutally dont use heal toe, but instead toe toe. haha. I'm serious! Anyone else use toe toe?

When I "heel/toe" I keep the ball of my foot(big toe) on the brake and the other end where my pinkie toe is on the gas. This is also a very common way of heel/toeing.

Yup, thats how i do it. Simple roll of the foot sideways for a blip of the throttle.

haha, YES! i knew i was't the only one! Its just eaiser then heel toe becuase you dont need to mash on the brake.

i've gotten comfortable using "side of foot"/toe. its not quite heel/toe and not quite little toe/big toe, but more in between.
