Ok, I've had a CRAZY night. I got a whole bunch of my friends together, and we all decided to take our cars up to Lookout Mountain. We had: my car, 2000 Eclipse GT (Auto), Mitsubishi 3000GT SL (man), Audi A4 1.8T (man), and a VW Jetta 1.8T (man). We go down Speer, and me and the 3000gt pull up to a light. We start revving our engines, with the other cars behind us, because low and behold, a BMW M Roadster pulls up to the left of me. The light turns green, and we hit it. I spin out a little too much off the line, and the 3000gt and the M takeoff, the 3000gt beat the M, with me maybe a car behind the M. Next light, same thing, and the M wins, once again with me trailing slightly behind. We take speer to 6th, all the way to I-70. We get probably half a dozen rolling runs from 70-100, with various combinations of the cars. I never managed to beat the 3000gt, though i hung with him once. In general, i'd rate the speed of the cars from highest to lowest as follows: 3000gt, my car, jetta, eclipse, a4. Thats from a roll, the a4 has a crazy launch, but we all catch up to him pretty quick. Handling: My car/300Gt, Eclipse, A4, Jetta (Just cause there was a girl also in the jetta, and she wouldn't let him push it too hard around the corners)

So we get up to the top of lookout, and we park and hang out for a bit. We go back down, and once we get to i-70 again we start to play some more. We race a couple more times, not too far though. Then, the eclipse pulls up next to me, and we hadn't gotten to race yet, so i'm like, "ok its on." This part of I-70 is the steepest part, and the road turns right up ahead, with a railing between the road and a cliff to the right. He punches it, and gets a carlength in front of me before i downshift into 3rd (we started at 60). We get up to about a hundred, with me gaining ground the entire way. All of a sudden, i realize the corner gets sharper up ahead of me, and there is a car in my lane. Now, he wasn't that close to me, but i was going a hundred, and i got paranoid. So i tried to slow down, I hit the brakes on the corner, and i hit them too hard. I feel my front tires lose traction (turn sideways), and my back end fishtails left. I admit, that at this point i did the dumbest thing possible, i didn't think, and turned the steering wheel left. My backend fishtails right, and my entire car slowly does a 180 counterclockwise spin. I was in the right lane, and i slid over 3 lanes and watched my nose swing closer to the inside of the road. My car slows its spin, and now i'm going almost backwards, at about 80mph (i'd guess), around a corner, down a steep hill. I turn the steeringwheel to the right, and get my backend to fishtail around the other direction (clockwise). Once again my spin takes me accross all three lanes of traffic, and i find myself approaching the edge with the cliff, with only the railing between me and serious catastrophe. I gently turn left, and my car pops out of the fishtail like the entire stunt was planned. I look down, and my speedometer read 60mph. I was like "Oh my god, i can't believe that just happened." We pull over, and i check out my car. Damage: I have a nice wear mark along the sidewall of my front left tire. I have horizontal scratches on my left bumper, about a hand wide. I have no idea what i brushed against, whether it was the barrier or something else. Thats it. No other damages incurred. My baby is safe, and so am I. Five cigarrettes later, I feel almost calm. So what do you think? Crazy Eh? Stupid, eh? But it was Exciting, thats for d@mn sure. I just hope to god it never happens again.

Reminds me of Initial D. Your crazy.

Yes, certainly not my brightest moment, but I still had enough control to pull it out, and I've never done anything remotely as crazy as that.

"I admit, that at this point i did the dumbest thing possible, i didn't think, and turned the steering wheel left. "

Whats wrong with turning you wheel left? Aren't you are supposed to steer into a fish tail and lightly tap the gas to get the car going in the direction you want? (gently).

Anyways, congrats on keeping it cool and executing well.

i think he means he turned it too much, thus he fishtailed the other way. just getting on the gas a bit would've been enough i think.

This is so ironic. On Saturday afternoon I was doing 80mph in a 50 zone that was curving right (3 lane highway). I was in the middle lane behind a taxi-minivan. I moved over to the left lane (signal and blind check). I get 80% over then the stupid taxi cuts me off (no signal either). We were so close I had to tap the brakes. Because of speed, the curve, and my yoko520s on the back....my tail came out 15-20 degrees left. I counter steered and my tail came out right side 8-10 degrees. I tapped on the gas and it straightened out, but i was 75% in the middle lane by that time. I calmed down, passed in the right most lane and started blocking the taxi down to 55mph (speed limit changed to 65 in that zone). Yoko 520s are definatley not like the 600 series.

But My2ktoy's story is still way cooler =D

I am not sure if "cooler" is the word you want to use here.

I am the one that was in the Eclipse. I watched that **** happen in my rear view!! In fact, the same thing almost happened to me! Jesus am I glad we both didn't spin out. I have never been so thankful for my car being a little heavier, or I think I may have lost it as well.

I had kinda started to give it some brake too because of the corner, and also some traffic coming up sorta soon(at 100 they come quick). I was in the left lane so it woulda been decent sized rut and the side of a mountain for me. I felt the car pulling to the outside, and could feel the back end wanting to go, but God was looking over me and the car held.

Please don't use cool in this context ever. I was severely scared for the life of my friend. That **** wasn't cool at all.
