What kind of paint did you use? I've been wanting to paint mine black for a while, but don't want it to come out extremely glossy.

What did you do for prep work? I'd figure that slippery plastic would be a bitch to get paint to stick to.

X-EVIL-X : Not in a silver/blue car, but it would look great in a black car.

CarbonBlue02 : Just undid all the screws and pulled really hard :) Seriously though, its not that hard just a little awkward in places, only took about an hour to remove the whole interior.

TRDCelicaGt : cheers mate.

DevlynSyde, CloneGTS: I used a plastic primer base, then the two pack silver metallic paint colour code 1D0, ie the same as the car, metallic base isn't poisonous which is nice, the base coat for flat colours are so if you are doing red or black get breathing aparatus. This is all topped off by three coats of clear lacquer which gives a hard shiny surface and lifts the metallic colour right out. In total about 4 hours with the spray gun.

I am just getting everything together to refit it all, centre speakers and LED mounts are all made up so it won't be long now.

Hrm... so all I need now is a spray gun, eh? :) I really think black interior would look nice, as you said on a black Celi. Looks great, another good job you've done.

DevlynSyde - If you decide to dop this use a HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) spray rig, its so much easier to use than a compressor.

celicauk....did you also paint your center console? if you did...what about the AC part with the graphics....how was that replace? I mean, do you know the part where it has the high & low for the AC and the other letterings on it? If you do paint it, is it possible to go out to the dealer and get a replacement on that?

Also how did you get the passenger airbag lid off too and was it hard to do? Details would be most appreciated......

Thanks
Chris

removal of the air bag is simple y. it is said that to safley remove your airbag you must disconnect your ground wire for three hours becuase the sensor stores a charge. This is one rule I would not disagree with simply becuase who wants to get hit with the air bag in the drive way.... drop the glove box out you can get to the air bag from there the connector for the air bag is white and yellow (U.S. model) I'm not sure if the wires are the same from country to country but once that is disonected and the bolts have been removed just push up and in it and pull it out from the top of the dash

I finally got it out. The screw down zip ties were the biggest pain.
