Recently acquired a used 00 GT. It has some nasty aftermarket faux brushed aluminum (aka plastic) trim on the dash. It appears to have been applied with double-sided tape. I'm pretty sure I can get the plastic off with brute force, a putty knife, and/or a razor blade, but there's going to be quite a bit of adhesive residue. Can anyone recommend something that will take that residue off without harming the oem plastic underneath?

I have used isopropyl alcohol to remove adhesive before. It usually helps if it is warm, at least 70 degrees F or so.
Take a cotton cloth, get it damp with the alcohol, and rub it into the adhesive. Most of it should come off onto the rag, but you can use a bit more alcohol on it and rub some more then you can usually just pull the stubborn pieces off with your fingers. 3M has a tar and adhesive remover as well, but i cannot vouch that it wont damage the dashes on these cars. They are made from some of the softest plastic ive seen.
Good luck

I'd say try Goo Gone. If you're not sure if it will hurt the plastic try it on the inside of the ash tray door first.
