Figure I would ask you since your a med student.
Is it possible to lose your vision from a blow to the head?
I crashed yesterday, and my vision in my right eye is all fvcked up now, its super blurry, even with my glasses on. Also dislocated my shoulder, but the paramedics popped it back in. I was gonna ask my wife, but I dont want her to freak out and tell me to sell my bike. LOL

Well, seeing that your eye is connected directly to your brain, it's possible that the blow could cause it. Go see is you can get a CAT scan done. Better to be safe than sorry.

best to go down to the ER. sorry i didn't see this sooner. any damage to the optic nerve can cause blindness. if it gets swollen or blood vessels in the area would to rupture it would comprimise your vision. please go and see a doctor so they can do a head CT. it's better to be safe than sorry.

i just thought about this.. but you may not have damage to your optic nerve.. when you have a concussion (sp?) it makes your vision blurry. do you sometimes feel a little dizzy? or out of place?
but yeah go to the doctor! are you crazy =P after a crash.. even if you don't have 1 scratch on your body.. it's better to go check. that's why you pay for medical deary.

my gf started off with swolen lymph nodes last sunday. went to the doctor and got antibotics. they werent working so the doc gave her different a different one. she started having a fever and has had it for about 4 days now. on fri night the new meds made her nautious so we were told to go to the emergency. she was stabilized and then we went home. then the last night the same thing. shes resting now... i think she may have the stomach flu... *sigh*

Yikes! I hope she gets better soon. Man this seems to be a very bad year for people getting sick. This is the first time I think I can remember that a bunch of people on the boards got sick.

we went to queens first last night. the triage nurse took her info but gave her no registration band. I asked the nurse how long the wait would be. she said they had just medivac'd 6 people to the ER so it would be "a while". I asked her how long "a while" would be. She didn't know. I asked her are we talking about maybe 6am-ish? (it was 2am) she said "maybe".
Needless to say we hightailed it outta there. Took her to Kuakini where the staff looked bored. They took her right away and during the 8 hours there they hardly saw anyone.

It seems to be a little better today, still kinda blurry but not as bad as yesterday, I guess if its not better by tomorrow I'll go to the doctor. I guess I kinda bruised my ribs too, cause it hurts big time today didnt really notice it untill now, I guess there was to much pain in my shoulder. lol
I have to go buy a new helmet, I cracked mine when I crashed, also bent my handle bars, broke my clutch lever and dented my radiator. Damn this crashing stuff is expensive. :chuckles:
Scott hope your g/f gets better soon, that flu is going around big time, its still going around at work.

Damage to the optic nerve will cause flashes. Damage to your frontal lobe will cause all kinds of things. Call me if you need a ride.
