was on my way to work around 3:30 in a line of traffic in pendleton when somebody two cars ahead of me decided to stop in the middle of traffic to make a right turn without their signal. this caused everyone to obvioulsy hit their brakes hard. lady in front me hit hers hard, i hit mine, and didnt hit her. then i look into my rear view cuz i saw somethign big and blue still coming towards me in my periphal vision. yup..a 1977 ford f-100 pickup truck then nails me at 30mph sending me into the car in front me as well. Mustang sandwhich.

my body and head went flying on teh first impact when the truck hit me, and the eat belts stopped me...i then hit the lady in front of me sending my neck and body back...unfortunately, the ehad rest is pretty far away from my head and i kinda tweaked my neck hard on that quick reversal.

when it was over, i looked aroudn the car for my cell phone immediately, i had to find it..i foudn my sunglasses, stereo faceplate, and otehr things all inteh back seat..my cell undr my driver seat. i pop open my drivers side door and get out all dizzy like , stumble and catch myself before falling..after that not much is too clear..i just know i called for rob and ken to come by sinc ei just saw them 5 minutes ago. i then called my mom but she wasnt in..meanwhile the truck driver was calling cops.

so what are teh damages? well, i get off some days from work, got osme medication for sprained and pulled back and neck muscles..also was told to get tylenol for the headaches im going to be having. as for the car..well, im proud to say that this 1977 ford truck took more damages than my car. sumbitch hit me with his brakes locked up, left 15 foot long of rubber and then tried to turn out of hitting me (brillant guy)..so his bumper was bent and twisted, his engine fan was broken when plastic shards hit the blade, his drivers die front panel was bent sharply in 3 spots, and the lis goes on..he has some framework ahead of him, no doubt.

meanwhile, my pony took it hard on the back bumper, puncturing it and scratchign it to hell, and putting it out of alignment, my trunk lid was scraped and my tailights have some marks on em and are pushed in. clsoer examination to the underside of the car and my rear bumper and frame was pushed back into my gas tank, and when you open the trunk you can see that even that is pushed in as well. so tehre is frame damage. teh front of the car has puncturing on the front bumper, misalignment, and is scraped up..gonna need a new one of thsoe as well.

now i get to call my insurance company, my lawyer, all monday and find out what all is up with this...if there is definite frame damage, im going to fight to have the car totalled, as its worth only 8,500 right now with its mileage and depreciation. so i may get the navigator sooner than i thought..otherwise, ill just be car less for awhile. we'll see..the driver of the pickup truck got a citation for "driving too fast for conditions" and his insurance company is state farm, just like mine, with full coverage, just like me...so it shouldnt be too hard a battle once Kirk my lawyer gets involved.

but overall i am VERY pleased with my mustangs ability to withstand a hit, i mean count the weight of the pickup truck with this guy, his 3 kids, and his wife in it, plus tools and stuff in his truck bed all hitting my mustang dead in teh center of its rear at 30ish mph. i walk away with sprained muscles and a driveable car.

well..took the pics and car isnt nearly as bad as i thought undrneath..musta been the shock of it and my friends telling me that their was bends in teh frame..most likely my subframe connectors saved the frame.

i was just talking to my mom and saying how i felt o.k....30 minutes later the pains started..so im off to get my prescriptions filled out..i just hope nothings permanent, i need my back to play basketball and box, etc.

heres pics of the car though..my dig 0.8 mp camera sucks and most scratches arent visible..but like i said, doenst look nearly as bad now as i thought it was..prob. wotn be totalled, but i am goign to go after teh guy for pain and suffering, etc.

nope..im goign to pop the hood and see how that area looks too..havent doen that yet..just seems like the bumper support pushed itself bck, hit the gas tank, and the frame may be bent in..we'll see. cosmetically it didnt do much damage other than new bumpers and trunk lid with tailights...but..the trunk was pushed in some, and the underbody is wher eim concerned...i can get the new exterior stuff cheap at MPS and put it on myself.

Hmmm Ford tough not trying to flame here and glad you are alright but if Ford universally was Ford tough first the truck would have been able to stop and second would not have had all the damage you said it would. Again not trying to flame, but Ford did get one of the worst crash ratings for their trucks....

hey slasher, I have a question, there has been considerable research going into crumpling and sheeit. How do you think your car and yourself would have done if there were crumpling (thinner metal to let it crumple). I am guessing the car itself would have been in alot worse shape, you you would have had a better chance of not feeling so much pain.

I hope everything goes well, and I hope your back is ok. Why not go jap and check out a 350Z if they total it? good luck.

Something that heavy (and old) won't stop as fast as cars/trucks nowadays. I see all kinds of accidents just like this one on the way to work (50 miles drive each way through 4-5 small towns with speed limits forever changing). I call it "brake light dominos" I see a car 4-5 ahead hit the brakes, then the one behind him nails theirs, and the one behind him slams theirs. You get the picture. Sometimes reactions aren't the best and people get tapped (or hit). I've come close several times where I've hit my brakes and looked in the rear-view and hoped that the person can stop in time.

yeah man, backs are a bitch. My back has never felt the same since I broke it. Make sure they get to the problem too. If you think there is somethin wrong that they are overlooking, then tell them to look harder. They tried to convince me that all I had was muscle spasms, then when the football season ended they did bone scans to find two stress fractures and a cracked lamina. Make sure you get that sheeit checked out.

Damn man... I'm just glad you didn't get hurt any worse than u did. Take care of yourself and get better.. cars come and go, but u gotta live with the body for a long time.

Get well man.. and hope you can get the car situation resolved in the most favorable way possible.

thanks bro..ill survive this..

Strong Like Bull!

nah..this has been a bitch today cuz the pain killers only make me drowsy and dont kill the pain, but i just keep ignoring it for the most part liek i did when i snapped my ankle and was walkign on it.

**** happens. im goign tomorrow for another checkup oncampus here for a different opinion...ill let ya know over IM or post here to update ya.

cars driveable..and about that crumple zone issue...honestly..im no engineer or scientist, i just wanna study law..so this sint my field at all..all i can say is that it was deisgned well enough that i walked away from a huge ass truck with lot sof extra weight in it and that inertia hitting it and then it hitting the truck in front of it. crumple zones all that are nice but i drove away and am here typing instead of having airbag burns, windsheild glass in my head and a undriveable totalled car.

thats my outlook on it...it may be ass wrong, but in this circumstance, if those airbags had been deployed i wouldnt be here typing without a couple casts.

watch that weight at teh gym boi. Thats what happened to me. Football coach wanted me to squat more more more, and finally I was repping 455 for a set of 10, and I only weighed 165. It didn't go well after that :)

Good luck with everything
