I'm thinking about getting these for the stock 16" s. But I have to be convinced that there gonna help me out at the track. Recently I went to the track and had no traction whatsoever. Tire spin through the first 3 gears. Every damned run!!! Will the 555R's give me traction so I can at least freakin go to the track and not make a fool of myself and launch the way it should? I eventually am getting an lsd and clutch/flywheel setup. But are the tires gonna keep me satisfied until then?

they should, what kind of tires do you have now? I think larry used these at one time, ask him.

I read they are real good when you heat 'em up! It's made so the rubber gets very sticky after you're burn-out, yet it's a good tire for a daily driver too!

I decided that drag racing is gay. But I'm still gonna get the dr's anyway, just in case.

Tire spin in 3rd??! This can't be a Celica right? Unless you're driving on ice.

I'm with erok on this one. If you are lighting them up in 3rd and even spinning all the way through 2nd, then maybe the driver needs an adjustment rather than the tire? The Nitto's will help though.

I used the 555r's and they didnt impressed me much the stock yoko's are good of line...where I found the 555r real good was while cornering they give a lot of grip...here in PR people use this tires for autox with great results and not much $$$$...

If its for the track, screw treadwear. I would say maybe try to fit as low a profile tire as possible on the rims if thats all they are going to be used for. It will look kinda weird, but you will have a smaller rolling diameter, making it easier for your car to accellerate, and you will also make your gear ratios higher by the smaller diameter. If all you are going to use them for is the track, try to find 205/40 or 205/45. If its daily driving, get 205/50.
