What is the right tire pressure for the Yokohama P205/50R16 tires that come stock with a GT-S? One of my tires looks smaller and I need to inflate it.

it should have it written on the side of the tire.

Usually around 7-8 PSI below the maximum PSI allowed.

32psi.

32 psi is just a general rule of thumb.

True, but it's a good starting point. Do not inflate to the pressure shown on the sidewall - that is the maximum pressure the tire can tolerate. Tire manufacturers do not give recommended pressures for cars, the car manufacturers do. The same tire on different cars can take different pressure. If you use the max pressure on the sidewall, you will get very quick wear in the middle of the tire.

As for 32 psi, I find its the right pressure for my Kumho 712s, but seemed a bit too much for my Yokohamas based on wear.

The correct pressure for the car is on a sticker in the door jamb. That's the manufacturer recommended inflation for the best contact patch.

I have my stock tires at like 32 PSI, but my tires on my rims I went up to 40 because there's such little sidewall I didn't want the rim getting bent if I hit a pothole. is this a good idea or not?

It's also for the OEM profile. Change it, and you'll have to adjust.

I have 32 PSI and the center of my tire is wearing out faster than the outside..........

Its almost bald in the middle............ = (

does that mean I have too much PSI ??

I have stock tires on GTS btw.......

I checked on the inside door jam and it also says correct PSI is 32, as NoUse4aName had pointed out.

Before I was going to inflate the tire today I decided to take it out completely to check if a nail could have been the problem. Sure enough, as I rotated the tire to inspect it, there was a big ass nail head on it. Had to take the tire to have it patched up, but it's all good now.

The GT has 29 psi on the door sticker.
I have GT-S rims and obviously different tires than stock.
Should I have my tires set to 29 psi or 32 psi (as it would be on a GT-S)?

I'd go with 32

is the psi based on the weight of the car? Wouldn't that mean that no matter what you're driving on, you'd use the car manufacturer's recommended psi?

tire size is also a factor. The weight difference between a GT and GT-S isn't very big. I remember the sticker on my GT-S had a pressure for the 16" wheel, and one for the 15" wheel. I don't remember what the one for the 15" one was.

Well the GTS tire itself wont last more then 14k miles... But at 32psi on my GT, i think was too much. Maybe 30. But personaly didn't like the tire too much.. Had too soft of a side wall lol

Well, I have a different tire. I have Pirelli Vizzola P8000s on the GT-S 16" rims.

i'm guessing you mean stock tire... i've had the ones i currently have on for over 15k on them on VA roads.

I say VA roads because some tire sales person said that the VA roads are harder and the normal warranties don't apply.
God knows if he was just a moron and needed to be bitchslapped, but thats what I was told atleast... as far as I can tell they're lasting just like they would on regular roads

If I were at the strip I'd run 25psi in the front and 42 in the back, at the autocross track I'd run 42 inthe front and 30-35 in the rear and I used chalk last time I went and these are excelletn prssures to start with.

Tires lasting 14-15K? They must either be some crappy tires or you guys just like peeling out. :gap:

I was lucky to get 10k out of my tires on the S2000.. but that what you get with an ultra high performance tire.
