Also, i worked as a counselor two years ago at a lego camp.

also, my two favorite sets:
lego 8448 super street sensation from 1999 (has real working v8 engine and manual transmission) also (matters which way u build it, automatic gullwing doors, automatic roof for convertible, trunk) :

I love legos, I used to have a crapload back in the day, but most of my sets are lost. Only thing I still have is the Star Wars ship that Darth Maul had in Episode I (because it's my most recent purchase). Legos are mad money, or were back when I was a kid.

That Ferrari is pimp, I'm gonna search for that on e-bay. :) I also have to get that game, I love Star Wars too. I've been meaning to get it this week, but I also heard that it was really easy to beat because it's geared for kids.

my friends father works for lego and actually from what ive been told is that lego has been laying people off over the past year due to the decrease in sales.

When I was little, i was what you would call a "lego maniac" i would get the magazine with the latest sets that were out. There is around 8-10 big rubbermade containers in our basement filled with finished built sets that I have just sitting in storage, lol. Also when I was little my mom would drive me to the lego factory in CT which is like 15-20 minutes from me and I was actually a tester for the whole lego mindstorms product.

Just like a year or two ago I bought for $75.00 a Lego Star Wars Death Star Destroyer set thing (not a star wars fan) that was the whole set but a damaged set box from my friends brother who interns there for college (dont know if he stills does) and I sold it for $300.00 on Ebay

Also, there is a guy who buys a bunch of legos off of brickshelf.com that i met through ebay who builds a bunch of those Lego 8448 sets but customizes em'... like he had one last year sell around for $300.00 which looked like a vette.

right, ya i know what ur talkin about, that is another way they have been downsizing there costs on pieces of plastic

What are you talking about? I'm sure that it cost Lego more money to create new molds for all these custom, one model, pieces. As opposed to their standard square block pieces they've had for years.

Maybe it's about the overall volume of plastic used. One flat brick would require more plastic to create than a nice smooth slanted piece that would take up the same area.

I used to be in a club in junior high that had lego technics competitions. Slowest wheeled vehicle, fastest wheeled vehicle....a bunch of other stuff I couldn't remember. The real interesting part for myself was we got to use this lego computer program that was basically a timer for the electric motors. It was a real pain in the ass to program a car to steer and accelerate correctly. :(

I gave the rest of my misc. legos and technics away to friends years ago. I had bigger and more expensive toys to mess with :chuckles:

That is true, good point. However I still feel that the molds needed to make those parts must set them back quite a bit.
