Well I had noticed that my coolant was at the low when i went to my car the other month. So I opened the hood, and poured some in until it hit the full level. A week goes by, and and is back down to the low level. Again, i pour some coolant in, and boom one week later it's gone. I don't notice any drips at all. None!!! It's been doing this for a while now. I don't smell any antifreeze, nor do i have any smoke coming out of my exhaust. The car has 55k on it. Im just curious as to where the hell this stuff is going. I travel at 85 to 90 on the highway every day to and from work. But I have been doing that for almost 2 years now, so it should of started before if this was the cause. Any ideas?

Could be a head gasket.

exactly..
actually I am experiencing the same problem although my levels always stay around the middle between the full and low when the motor is idle, and a little under low when the engine is off right after I'm done filling. I also notice that even though I don't overfill the tank, the overflow valve still ejects coolant. I am using the Toyota 50/50 coolant.

That's exactly the same problem I had. I would fill up the antifreeze to full a week or two goes by and it would be back to low. The culprit was a bad water pump. I leaks so slow that it's hardly detectable. I
only notice a few drops coming from somewhere when I was underneath my car changing my oil but I couldn't pinpoint exactly where it was coming from. When I took my car in for the lift bolt TSB, the service manager told me that the water pump was leaking. Luckily it was under warranty at the time so I didn't have to spend any money. I was at 40K miles.

Well i don't hear the gurgling sound. But once and a while I swear I can smell antifreeze. But it's so faint of a smell. Im not mixing anything. It's still all the factory antifreeze. When I noticed that It was disappearing I added just antifreeze, no water. Ill will have toyota look into it. Because just today, my damn cd player swallowed one of my cd's. And it won't spit it back out. hahah. And the player skips anyways. Hopefully while they are fixing that they can fix the disappearing antifreeze. Hell, my belt squeaks too. It's like my car is fallling apart. Good thing i still have a warranty.

Well you got it right. IT appears that I have a bad water pump. I can see pink all over the water pump, so im calling toyota right now to see about getting it repaired. And after two days of eating my cd, the car spit it back out to me. haha oh well.

So the water pump is gone. But the dealership doesn't have one. So they are letting me drive my car around while it's leaking. hahhha. And they are getting me a new radio. Nice!!!

For some reason the water pumps are crap on the Celica's. My moms 2003 camry with 26k on it just had its water pump replaced.....the bearing were gone and it was making all kinds of noise.

Just like the belt tensioner, lift bolts, and transmission.

Damn, good timing on this post! I'm having the EXACT same problem. I heard the "bubbles" and the "gurgle" so I topped of the coolant with some distilled water to the max line. 1 week later its an inch below min. So I jacked up the car, took off the passenger side plastics, and saw dried up coolant all around the water pump. I just purchased this car used, 2001 w/48k, taking it into the dealership to get it fixed under warranty next thursday. Hope they cover it, they should. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. You think they'll replace my lift bolts and tensioner? I'm going to be out of warranty soon!
